Natzke, Sihvonen, Haarup, Dankers, Savaste all have huge chances to become the next big thing too. All comes down to leadership, health and of course, money.

Very inconsistent though. I was at Valkenswaard and he took 14 seconds out of Prado in the latter stages of one race to take the win, then the next weekend he nearly didn't qualify. He's very good in the sand but there's room for improvement

I only say it because when you watch them ride, Prado just seem more talented.

yeah you're right and I also think Prado will have the better career but Reneaux seems to be a bit underestimated.
I also didn't realize he's only 15 before I looked it up. He looks older

Us Euros are blessed to have the EMX125 series. See them at Matterley Basin last year, nothing better than seeing these kids wringing the neck of these bikes. Oh and the smell is bliss. Love to see a properly funded series in the States as well.

Anyone know how close the Redbull KTM Junior bikes are to a full blown factory bike?
I saw interview of Stefan Everts last summer where he said those 125s of Prado, Natzke and Mewse were pretty much stock bikes, he said he wants these guys learn how to set up these bikes for them.

Will Natzke be racing the EMX250's? Haven't seen anything about it, or I should've missed it.

Pootjes, Prado, Renaux, Hsu, Vaessen, Mewse and Herbreteau are probably the guys who will be the next big thing in a short period of time. Geerts could be too, but he needs to confirm this season first imo. I think Everts and Pichon juniors are a little early to decide, but it looks like it's going into the right direction.

I of course want to bring EMX150 European champion Emil Weckman to this conversation as he is riding for our team. Although the general level of EMX150 might not be so high, the top guys go really fast and as everyone is riding same bikes, the best rider wins. Emil had pretty good fight for the championship with Jack Bintcliffe (mentioned earlier in here) and Emil won the championship as 13 years old against 15 years olds. Also guys like JMB and even DC (who saw him at Acro di Trento last year) think he is one of the upcoming riders from Europe. He is only 14 and pretty small (4'11") even for his age so he won't move up to EMX250 this year. He will be riding EMX150 again at GP's and then MX2 in Finland on CRF250R (and if the speed is there maybe race a few EMX250 races). He is on Honda Europe pipeline so he'll skip the EMX125 and goes straight to EMX250 in 2017. The plan is to come to US next winter to practice and hopefully race some races there.

This video is from last year and he has gained much more speed since then.

Well Pootjes allready got a podium in GP's last year, i would expect him to be up in the championship this season.

As for future stars, don't know the age difference between Prado and Mewse, but was very impressed with how Conrad raced (and beat Prado) in the dutch nationals.

Is Östlund doing the whole MX2 series or what?

Btw this year is huge for Savaste. Last year was just horrible because of the ACL injury. I hope Bud Racing can provide a good bike and a great network around him.

Yes. He'll replace injured Lieber who is out for a long time. Maybe not the entire season but Östlund is going to do the whole mx2 series

Zachary Pichon signed a contract with the official satellite Yamaha team: "MJC Yamaha" to contest the EMX125. I think a lot of people will be surprised because he stayed under the radar for a very long time. Last year he already did good things on the 125 bike.

What about the KTM guy that got run over by the van ... Laccetti?? How is his recovery doing.

I was impressed with Renaux last year , im sure the bike wasn't the best.

As for Everts having Natzke and Prado on stock bikes?? What's with that thinking?

I think you're talking about Gianluca Facchetti. He's just got back on the bike & riding EMX125 this year. I believe he's under the watchful of Di Cairli & AC222.

PhilG, I think that Everts more or less wanted to say that the bikes weren't real factory bikes. They weren't prepared in Austria and the developing wasn't done in Austria. They started with stock bikes and Prado and Natzke their bikes got tuned by DP Racing. Mewse went with his bike to Grizly Tuning. Some people say that they used a budget from 40-50.000 Euro for one season for every rider, tuning and parts.

Didn't do them any harm. They were 1-2 in the championship

What is going on with Jere Haavisto? He's shown some good speed but he can't stay in EMX150 forever.

Haavisto rode EMX250 last year on Manninen Bros/Honda team. He finished 2nd or 3rd in the Finnish mx2 championship. He was all over the place in EMX250 class, the best race was in Uddevalla 12-20.

He will be in the EMX250 class this year on a Husqvarna!

Thats good to hear, he was unlucky, i hope it helps him make wiser decisions in the future.

OK, that kind of makes sense , maybe keeping factory bikes out of EMX125 is a good long term goal, it only harms the manufacturer, not the rider , and if KTM can cope with that, i guess it shows that talent and a reasonable budget can win.

Indeed, with 'reasonable budgets' and people with know how from 2 stroke tuning you can do great things in the EMX125 class. The only team with real factory bikes in the EMX125 is TM Racing. Their TM125 bike gets developed and tuned in Italy. Mainly because it is a very special bike. The engine is based on Kart-technology and that makes him very fast on hard pack and very strong in top end. But if you are racing in the sand you've an hell, finding the setup.

But the EMX125 class is without a doubt the most beautiful class isn't it?

Jack Bintcliffe was well beaten by Henry Williams at Hawkstone.
I think that was Bintcliffe's first outing on a 250F at that level, Williams has been on a 250 all season .

For a 3rd year rider Bintcliffe is very impressive, and he will only get better, Williams has had a good 2015, be interesting to see if he can keep that up this year.
