Im doing a road trip from San Diego to Washougal this year for the national and i am looking for some good places to stop and ride on the way up. Tracks or trails, i want to ride it all. I haven't decide on a specific route up there, because i want to map it out around good riding spots. Let me know if you guys have any good suggestions. Thank you
For nostalgia sake I would hit Clarks Branch off I5 just south of Winston/Roseburg (maybe back open and still running by that time). Used to be a Huffman ran track too. Watched Ryan spin a lot of laps out there.
Any of the dune areas from Coos bay up to Florence is a good experience to have at least once.
Used to be a decent track down around Medford east toward Kalamath falls (might have actually been in Kalamath Falls kind of far east) cant remember the name.
Right off I5 is Albany MX kind of a staple in the area.
If your going to Washougal you would be close enough to hit Mountain View too, personally my favorite Oregon track, but similar dirt to Washougal. Thats around Sandy Oregon.
Also have Peoria motorsports park around Harrisburg, close to I5.
Depending on how far off the beaten path you want to get, I think China Hat around Bend is a must for trail/desert riding, but that's getting pretty far east of I5.
May be able to catch the last session of the year at Eugene MX too cant remember how deep into the summer they run. Nothing special but a fun little track.
Depending on the right contacts you make here, maybe able to ride the private track at the Huffman's Place (Ryan's parents) around Roseburg too. Haven't been there in a while but usually a fun place to ride and cool set up.
Also check out the Clark County schedule a little north of Washougal on I5.
If you look up Monty Hills riding school web site you might be able to spin some laps at the Hill Residence (literally can see the house and track from I5 just north of Rice Hill) He was letting locals go out there and ride quite a bit and had heard he maybe opening one of the tracks to more regular traffic but haven't seen or heard anything recently.
There maybe more but I am drawing a blank right now on anything close enough to I5 that you would want to probably hit up.
Try Huckleberry flats ohv around Eugene/Springfield at little east on HWY 58 off I5 towards Oakridge
As well as Shotgun creek ohv around Eugene too.
Up north thought there are several cool Trails system, Primarily east though. Google Oregon ohv trails there's a pretty good map of places.

Maybe that's what is was always call, I just called it Keno. Haven't been there in probably 10 years if its the same place, but that was a fun track, and they used to run a decent little local series.
Runs both limited (sign up in advance) and open practice days. Awesome track.....
Tillamook state forest OHV - Best dirt bike riding in the world (for me anyway). Get a map and stage at diamond mill or jordan creek. Tons of single track and plenty of quad/jeep trails through the coastal mountains of NW oregon (1 hr from portland).
East Fort Rock (China Hat) - Desert style trail riding half hour east of Bend. Some slightly technical trails but very rarely even think about second gear.
Hood River County OHV - Similar to tillamook but more "tamed". Mostly single track and quad trails. 1 hour east of portland.
Upper Nestucca OHV - Again similar to tillamook but run by the BLM. Not much single track but lots of quad trails that are still fun on a bike. 2 hours southwest of portland.
These are the major ones that I have ridden. There are a bunch more smaller areas around the state as well.
Mt.View runs Tuesday practice every week one of my favorite tracks in the summer, show up early to get the fresh dirt can get dry quickly if it's hot. If your not too hungover from Washougal they normally run practice the Sunday after as well.
Thursday Night Moto at PIR surprised know one has mentioned this one yet. Race every Thursday night. The Thursday before Washougal is crazy with lots of Pros out racing for a big purse so riding or spectating is a must gets up pumped for the weekend.
Castle Rock north of Portland also has a big race that week if your interested.
Once you get into Oregon, Riley Ranch looks awesome, I've never made it down there. Weird practice days.
Mountain View MX park is one of the best and a must ride. Tuesday's, Saturday and Sunday.
Washougal if they have a practice day or you want to race amateurs day?
Riverdale in Washington is cool, not amazing but it's got weird dirt which is half burnt ash from when Mount Saint Helens blew up. Pretty cool.
As far as trail riding, on the way up in Bend Oregon is an area called East Fort Rock or "China Hat" as seen in this Motosport video:

If it's not blown out and dry by the time you drive up or down its the best off-road zone I've ever ridden. 300+ miles of trails and every turn is a burm! No rocks, just fast banking turns!
Has anyone heard of that place? Did it shut down? I just remember the track being so cool and was wondering where it was. Man to be 18 all over again!
One of my old favorites for trails was Mt. Hood, you can see some of that in moto 2 or 3.
Maybe the guys up north can help me out but for years Longview had a complex with a decent moto track they used to do 4 stroke nationals at. I was going a lot in 05 06 and 07 moto track was still fun and good just hadn't looked groomed in years. But they had added a short but fun little sand track right there by the dike. Spun a lot of laps there. Heard a rumor that might be gone though? Hoping not it was there for years and was a blast with the two tracks.
If your going to as far north as castle rock mx you got to do riverdale too when I was living in that area I loved the original track, even grew to like the newer track. Run a pre filter! All volcanic ash from when St. Helens blew eats air filters and valves.
Around the same time 05-07. Astoria had two tracks worth the drive too. One sort of small sand track that was fun, seems like I had to wait for the tide to go out once to ride it. Can't remember the name of that one. then there was Mud Lane MX (? I think help me out guys up north) was a little narrow but built out pretty good as far as jumps and corners. Was pretty new back then I think, not sure if it ever got off the ground but I hope it's still there was a killer track.
