There is a really good interview with Kyle Regal on RacerX. He seems to be super motivated to repeat his AX championship this year. Even when prodded about the Hayes incident last year, he kept it classy and never said a bad thing about him. He just talked about his focus was getting back into the race a quick as possible. Great attitude.

I was surprised to read that his goal is to land a full SX and MX ride for 2017. Article also said he moved to CA to be 'visible' to the industry so he can increase his chances of accomplishing his goal for 2017.

So you’ve got two goals. You want to defend your title, but you’re also looking at it as almost an audition to show people what you’ve got for supercross in 2017.

For sure. When I was talking with [Rockstar Husqvarna team owner] Bobby Hewitt before the season, I told him, “I don’t want a championship bonus. I want a contract from your team for 2017.” He goes, “If you win the championship I’ll see what I can do.” I’m excited. I’ve got good opportunities, amazing people around me. At the end of the day I’ve got to make it happen and that’s winning races. You need to write things like that down. I’ve got his words written down and taped to the mirror, I look at it everyday when I’m brushing my teeth. I’ve got a great opportunity right now and I’m working really hard to make this all happen.

I like that. When guys want to get back to sx from ax. Hes young, much more mature, which is probably what he was lacking before. He can do it, Plenty of time.

Didn't do much with them
What has changed since then?

Whats your opinions on maturity and the modern mx rider? Do you think getting older helps some athletes out?

I bet Kyle is more focused now and having gotten some experience he knows what to do and what not to do.

Well, couldn't the same have been said for Bowers after his first couple of years on Yamaha of Troy and MotoConcepts? Then he went to AX, smaller stage, and figured things out. I give Regal a lot of credit for taking full advantage of his situation. I really thought he was done.

Christian Craig is a prefect example of what happens when you step away for a bit and come back with a better mentality.
