Outgrow a 125??? How about having a bike that teaches you to really ride it. Forces you to maintain proper technique since it's not forgiving. And when you can ride it, you'll feel like a god ringing it for all it's worth. Small bore two strokes are some of the most fun and benefit you'll have on two wheels.

I haven't read any further than ktmshane's post but absolutely agree with this. Get a 125 and ride the shit out of it! 250 two strokes got a lot of go right now where a 125 two stroke has nothing then the fun starts. You wont be let down

I went from an 98' yz80 to a 98' Yz250 in 99' finished the season racing both bikes. The next year I qualified for loretta's in stock 250C. I was 5' 2" and 120 lbs. It is not too much of a jump, but you must learn to ride the bike different than an 85. In essence ride a gear higher than you are used to riding your 85. Respect the power until you have the skill to utilize it.

Absolutely the correct thing to do according to the AMA. Amateur AMA that is, not acceptable for AMA Pro. Rule book bro...Dry

I'm not riding any races I may do a few harescrambles but I mostly hill climb and trail ride with buddy's and hit a sand track close to my house every ounce in a while but ide prefer a 2 stroke cause I like the hit of the power band I'm also in a budget of 3000 and under

If your budget is $3000 I would with out a doubt buy the first 125 that I liked and was in good working order that my budget would allow.

It depends on your skill level. For me, if you are still a beginner or race the C class get a 125. It wouldn't be the bike that held you back.

I am 15 looking for a new bike never really rode a 125 2t but rode many 250 4t but I want to 2t that has bottom end to carry me up hills and top end at a track . I weigh 170 pounds and my 85 just can't keep up with my buddies on 250f s
170lbs on an 85? LOL. your already too big for a 125 and at the weight limit of a 250f. i'd say 150/167/200/250 2strokes are all good options

Little late to the thread but you'll be fine on a 250 two stroke. Shred it!

250T would work great for you. Less maintenance than a 125, gobs more torque for the type of riding you're describing. Don't be an idiot with the throttle and you'll be fine.

Yes. They need more skill than a 450, so Yes.
