As a wife to man who is running for POTUS you know exactly what you're getting into. The only difference in a senator or military flag officer's wife is frequency and geographic scope. Also, let's not forget that everything you do is the best in the world...

If Obama is a halfway decent president that entire family stands to get super rich after he leaves office...let them serve their country first...it's the way is was, the way it is, and the way it should be.

I think they all should have.

Not talking a large amount, but at least a small salary.

First lady's job is a little more than fucking the POTUS.

They have a lot of not only social responsibilities, but also diplomatic responsibilities, in that they do act as an US ambassador's on many occasions as well as ambassador's of the White House domestically.

It is not uncommon for the First Lady to travel to other countries in place of the POTUS as a representative of the White House and the office of the President

My opinion here is not a matter of whom, but in reference to the position and its responsibilities itself.

and once again the first ladies job carries no definition of what the position is, and carries no official duties, so what exactly is the reason for paying her? As well where do we draw the line as far as what we pay her for and what we don't?
