Awesome! Now, why doesn't someone mount an old KTM 500 engine in a modern SX/SXf chassis?

I would guess the right side drive would dissuade someone from using the 440/500/540/550 motors.

Ahhh. Forgot about that. This explains why the only similar conversion I've seen was a KX500 engine in a new KTM chasis.

Really great motors, it's just difficult to justify the additional cost, time and frustration when the CR and KX engines are really good too.

The 380 is left side drive, though I think someone on KTMTalk figured out how to use that crank and cylinder in the current 250/300 cases!

I concur with everyone else.....that bike is fantastic!! Kawasaki and Honda would do well to market something like this.

You skills are top notch Jos! Very good!

Stellar work man! Attention to detail is perfect and I know you have a lot of heart and soul poured into that thing.

Just picked up an 09 KX250f and a 1991 KX 500. Anyone chance we could get in contact with each other?

Bike needs a billet ignition cover to go with the other nice machined parts. something like the one Service Honda sells.

otherwise send me an email at ryanmosch833@hotmail.com. Just have some questions on any information you can give me about the build. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Excellent job on your conversion! Would you fabricate a clutch cover for my KX500AF? If so what would you charge? I am planning on putting a Rekluse clutch in it and I don't want to pull the motor every time I change clutch plates.

Thanks,

Kevin
