I was in about $500(I forgot the exact dollar) for front and rear. They put in the BVC valve which helps(extra $99) the harshness.

My first setting was only good when you pushed the bike really hard like you were saying @moto3731. The stiffer I made the fork the better, but you had to ride it hard to use the stroke.

Then the second setting was too plush and bottom out even at 4 clicks out of compression. I asked to get ride of that first harshness, very plush like a kyb or showa. But the fork would blow through the stroke even in jump faces, petty much bottom out.

This 3rd setting I asked to keep that same style of progressive plushness but just stiffer. they accomplished this without letting the fork bottom out. I actually am out at 20 clicks and it's feeling plush but not too soft. on top of changing the valving they added some more oil on this setting.

I'm 155 5,9' and ride the 250. Feel free to use my name if you to reference the setting.

I'm lucky the Oregon loction is a few miles from my house so it was easy to try the different settings. And I agree the CVs are better but also in a different category , but this is not a bad 4cs set up at all!

@Grunkster I rode the old WP CC forks on my last KTMs and the FE 4CS stock setting felt better then my revalved CC. I didn't try as many settings but the 4cs seems like it's working better faster.
Excellent feedback, thanks. So you left the BCV kit in there and it makes a positive difference in your opinion? I'm leaning towards risking the $250 to give a revalve a try before spending $3000. It sounds like there is hope.

Yeah they still used the BCV Kit. I'm sure it adds some tunablility for them.

I feel like it's worth the try on a revalve, if you use the, "free revalve" until your happy and give them feedback on how it feels for you and how you want to change it, you really get your money's worth.

Does anyone make a full body kit for this bike yet? I always strip my original plastics off every new bike and save them for when I sell it. It's a small price to pay to have a bike look brand new when you try to sell it.

Did you notice a before and after difference with the BCV kit?

Im coming off 10 years of yz 250 sss forks so that's all ive been comparing it to. It does seem plusher but i was also literally one of the first 2015's they revalved last july when i got it. Seems pretty good but i haven't got to try varying track conditions much. Worth the 100 bucks imho.

So carlinojoe you think the issue has just been communication between what you want and what your tuner does?

On a scale 1-10 can you rate your current setup and the cone valves you road with .

I think 3 attempts at a revalve is pretty normal to be honest. I'm not sure how it works in the states but i go to my local tuner who rides the same tracks i do and expertise in same bike. There are a lot 'experts ' who when i am the questions, just want to sell products or push same settings , like the gold valves on you for example.

Glad your happy with the bike. .

Let me start off by saying the CV's were very very good... I rode 2 motos on them and my current feedback on the 4CS valving from Factory Connection is after 4 motos at 1 track, I haven't, "raced" them yet or ridden Glen Helen...

To me the CV's were plush and felt like even if I tried to or wanted to front wheel case a double they wouldn't bottom out. Butttt, they still did have a stiffness to them within it's plushness which surprised me. (disclaimer; they were set up for a bigger guy who rides a 450) Just by making clicker changes they came to life for me. On a scale of 1-10 compairing KTM forks I have ridden, they were like an 8-9. Was it worth $3,000 to me, no. If I can find a set of CV's for around $1500-2,000, I'll buy them all day. That's just where the level of comfort meets valve in my eyes.

If money isn't an issue I recommend ordering the forks today, hands down.

Is a Factory Connection revalve worth $500 to me and a setting that feels close but maybe not as beefy on the "Wont ever bottom out", yes.

Sorry to finish your other question about working with the tuner...

I don't necessarily think it was a communication problem, I think they are learning as well, learning what works great for "Rider A" or "Track XY". I don't think there is the magic, "One setting fits all". I feel like we got close with #2 just too soft and then they made that better. Going the right direction is positive and they are making the best they can out of what they have to work with... The 4CS.

A rider could have the same valving problems with the Cone Valve forks, there's just more adjustably and better action with it.

Has anyone changed out that little cone fuel filter yet? Is it located in the same spot on this new bike?

Yes I have for the hell of it. But I usally take the tank off after 3 races or so because a lot of dirt gets stuck up there. Here's the catch if you run race fuel which I do the little o ring that goes around the price where the filter is expands from the race gas and is nearly impossible to get back in. You get an extra one in your folder. After I went through both I went to my dealer which I get a big discount there and my cost was 5 bucks an o ring! 9 regular! So I went to the hardware store and found the exact one for .50 cents and bought a bunch. I wonder why there so expensive. The cheap ones are actually holding up better but as far as the filter goes they last awhile you can blow them out with an air compressor.

Speaking of race fuel I got to try a can of the mr pro 6 I got a couple cans for 100 a peice instead of 160. The stuff is amazing the bike has never been so crisp and easy to start and I'm comparing it to u4. Digger and I went halves on a 54 gallon drum of the sx4 from renegade can't wait to try that. But I only race the bike so the cost of race fuel def is a huge benefit in my eyes, plus if you buy a lot you get it cheap. I've rode a friends fe with pump and the thing felt like a dog compared to my bike.

Is the filter located on the fuel line in one of the plugs or where the fuel line enters the throttle body?

So did clip the metal clamp and use a hose clamp? This is different then my 2012...

Nevermind. I found it... The cone fuel filter is located on the fuel line quick disconnect plug that is connected to the bike...

That is the o ring that expands the first one lasted a couple disconnects but not long. If you take your tank off a lot invest in some.

I haven't used the same race fuel as you, but my o'ring has gotten difficult to disconnect/reconnect.
I put a little grease on the o'ring nearly every time I take it apart and it works like a new one, been doing this for a couple of years now after going through a couple of o'rings.

Suspension is going into Factory Connection in 8 days. I have been able to make the 4CS work decently stock by going a lot faster. Main issue is it's way over sprung for my weight. Ill keep you updated on the process.

I went to a softer spring in the rear and that helped as well. I'm 155lbs give or take. At first I thought it was too soft but my static sag is on point now.

I'm currently 3 spring rates to high front and rear for my weight. So I thought instead of riding suspension that to make work I really have to push it. I should go to Factory Connection get the correct springs, re-valve, add the bcv valves, and see how much better it works after that. I know that the first setting won't be perfect, but I'm willing to work with them till I have an almost perfect set up.

My dealer just let me know that my 16 450 is ready for pickup. Unfortunately I'll be out of town this week so I won't get until mid-late next week.

I asked my rep about KTMs supply issues regarding the 16 450 sx-f. He said that in addition to my bike they (my dealer) will recieve one more 450 but not until November. After that they won't be able to get anymore 16 450s. He was told that KTM had to cut 4000 bikes from the U.S. market. Most likely due to worldwide demand.

That makes me think that the 16 450 sx-f's should hold its value better than other bikes on the market. That would be great.

This could help sell Husky 450s. Not saying they are doing it on purpose but could help steer someone in that direction if KTM isn't available?

New to the forum! I just picked up my 450 and after reading this thread I'm curious to see how this suspension will handle my 6'3" 195lb self. Any recommendations on settings? I'm eventually going to revalve, but I'd like to ride it a few times first.

I rode my 250 stock for a while. I'm 155ish 5,9 and it felt good right in the middle of everything, Front and back. I do remeber the rear rebound was a bit fast, I think you can slow that down.

I bet you could go stiffer on the compression 2,3,4 clicks be feel comfortable. Maybe a little stiffer in the rear, depending on how you ride. But try everything in the middle, see how it feels.

I personally thought the bike felt better at 105-106sag measuring from the Axel straight up to the fender and I kept the fork tube 2 lines up in the clamps on tighter tracks, 1 line up on faster tracks and now flush when riding sand tracks.

Just hit 25 hours on the 450 of strictly racing and haven't had to touch a thing, starts with the slightest tap of the button and if you stall on the track you don't even need to find neutral which is great just pull the clutch and tap the button! Seasons almost over here in New England probably 4 races left so I'm going to check the valves after the season for the hell of it.

Are you guys happy with the conevalve forks/stock shock combo? Did you revalve shock and if you did what did you change?

I've got 12 total races on my FE450 & 6 since Billy at Powerband revalved and re-sprung my rear shock and I couldn't be happier with it. The forks have been awesome since day one. The shock on the other hand was very good at certain tracks and super busy at other tracks. Now it is very planted and very predictable in the super rough stuff making line choices not nearly as critical as it was before the revalve. The bike is so stable now and it feels like its on rails in the turns. You can hit the same line on a rough section every time now and it reacts the same way every time with a super predictable and confidence inspiring way each and every time. It never kicks or gets out of line or does anything crazy. This is without a doubt the best MX bike that I've ever ridden. I'm not saying this because it's my bike because anyone who knows me knows that I would've said what I thought about it right away and sold it right away too and bought another 250SX if I didn't absolute love it.
