I was just wondering what era of music he was raised around.

Who ever said anything about intelligence? None of that on Monkeydrive.....

i understand this but i'm 19 and grew up around probably the same music you listened to when you grew up and music that was around when i was little. not saying that it had to be about intelligence. it was just a quote my dad told me when i was little. but as far as the era of music he was raised around depends on the type of music their parents listened to

You couldnt be more wrong. Its one thing to listen to music from the past, but you could never understand the culture & time that created it. That would be like me trying to understand Bill Haley & the Comets because I watched Happy Days on TV. Catchy tune for sure, but my dad lived those days and it means far more to him than me.

i stand corrected. i did not think that much into it. but as far as taste in music i think it is definitely a choice more inspired by parents than anything.

j/k, of course. But I do like to cackle with delight every time I see one of those commercials and my wife or kids are in the room, just 'cause they hate them so much Tongue

I've got bands that I would walk on hot coals to go see, and others sound about as bad to me a steaming hot bag of dog poop smells. I've learned that judging music is like judging politics. Everybody has what they're passionate about, and it makes absolutely no sense to somebody else how anybody can stand that crap, let alone be nuts over it. It's pretty interesting, actually - why does any given band push one person's "all the right buttons", and makes the next person want to puke?

Live and let live, just don't be playin' that crap at 120db stopped next to me at a red light...

I grew up in Southern CA and really can’t think of anyone from that era that I didn’t see at least once live. Hell you could see anyone at the time for $6.50 or attend a big show like the CA Jam for $10 or $12 bucks. What I really enjoyed was hitting the Whiskey and catching someone like Social Destruction or one of the other great Orange County bands that was just starting their careers.

I still go to a lot of live smaller shows to see some great bands. I am in Dallas tonight and most of the time there are some great bands at the HOB Dallas, Palladium Ballroom or a great little club called the Door. No one in town tonight or I wouldn’t be sitting in my hotel room talking to you guys. Another great place to see a great show is Stubbs in Austin. If I am in CA I always check out who’s playing at the Glass House in Pomona or the Orange County Fairgrounds. All are small venues but have some really good shows.

I really enjoy live music and supporting that hard working band that hasn't made it quite yet.

PEARL JAM - The only singer who mumbles worse than Springsteen is Eddie Vedder. Hell, Ozzy Osbourne is easier to understand. How many covers can they or Eddie butcher? I would smash a guitar over Eddie's head and shove the pieces up their guitarist's ass if I were Pete Townsend. Their version of Teenage Wasteland sounds like a bunch of 4th graders playing with one arm.

yeah, +1 on Pearl Jam. I don't really hate them, but they are the most overrated band ever - them and U2.

Many good times at the Glass House back in the late 80's early 90's. I've played the Glass House a bunch of times back then. Glass House, Spankys in Riverside, and Munchies, which was right down the street from Glass House. Opened for Vodoo Glow Skulls back in the day. I was more into the hair bands though, you could get chicks to bang you just by having a "look" back then. Hollywood was epic with trampy gilrs who just wanted to be "friends" with guys in bands. awww the good ol days.
All that being said ,I hate Led Zeppelin.

The absolute worst: THE EAGLES. Mojo Nixon was right: Don Henley must die.

Nickleback.

Creed.

Journey.

You can strike off Talking Heads. Useless. I love Nickleback, especially their layered lead vocals.
