A really good friend of mine stayed at South of the Border last year and it cost him $1100 a month to stay there before the price of bikes and maintenance costs. Not to mention he got his Supercross license which is really expensive in itself and he qualified for every East Coast lites night show last year except for the Dallas and obviously had the entry fees and gas and living expenses while traveling to the races. Plus he bought 2 '15 Husky 250's and one was a full blown race bike. He had a lot of financial help from sponsors but nothing was free and money ran out fast. Crazy how expensive it is to try to make a career out of this sport
No different than real "college" expenses in the end. But typically a skill set learned in college lasts much longer than a racing career. And racers need skills for after they're done racing.

The return on a college investment is another topic in itself. But I'd say the return on that is far greater than an investment in a racing career.

You can invest as much as you like in a training facility even more than any college and you still have an almost zero chance of ever making any money racing because you have got to have talent and hard work is not enough. Better odds of being a professional gambler in Vegas than making money racing MX/SX

I wonder what it cost a month to
Live at one of those and can a vet stay there ? I think it would be cool to take 1 year and just go all in to be able to
Say I gave it my all and to see what I can really do . Maybe top 10 at Lorretas ?
A guy who's kid was attending one told me once and it was very affordable if you consider what a dedicated moto dad would save in gas, food, and entry fees by having his kid live at the track. Less than $2k/ month includes all food about 2 years ago.
I'm an old guy too but it sounds like fun. But I'd rather ride my MTB all over the West for a year personally than ride the same MX track for a year straight.

Riders the train at Masterpools His 956 Facility had a few podiums. Probable one of the best places to train in Texas.

Challen Tennant's compound north of Houston is a training spot for many top riders in the Lonestar state. Challen got hurt a few days before LL and did not race, but there were a few that train at his place that brought home some hardware from the ranch in some of the A and B classes.

Other trainers that have facilities with riders that landed on the podium were Reynard and Trampas Parker.

Reynards should be on this list too, with just Robbie, Forkner, and Bloss that's a lot of championships and podium finishes

It's sad, you're so right... Better off, if your kid is athletic, picking a sport and sending your kid to something like
baseball camp... Hell your kid can at least get a free education if he's any good at all with a scholarship...

I think you'd be surprised how hard it is to get any money to play college baseball anymore...trust me that's why I'm not in college anymore. Most of the kids you see in CWS aren't going to school for free and if they are its not because of the classroom not baseball its ridiculous how small the amount of money colleges give for baseball scholarships. Its extremely frustrating.

NCAA D1 baseball programs get a Max 11.7 scholarships. Hardly anyone ever gets a FULL Athletic scholarship for baseball. Most are split up into 1/2 or smaller awards. you can combine with academic or financial aid awards so you don't have to pay if your need dictates or you have great grades.

I meant to say it was BECAUSE of the classroom not baseball sorry I accidentally said that wrong. But yeah with those combined you could end up going for free...it's crazy when you see the crazy talent on a baseball diamond and then see a mediocre talent on a football field going to school for free BECAUSE of football NOT the classroom.

I would have loved to add all the facilities but I wasn't sure of all the riders that trained at each. I only went off of the list of facilities that was posted on vurb.

Football is a Head Count sport. To be D1 FBS you have to give out the equivlent of 85 full scholarships. They can break them up but usually dont. The revenue generated by the big time football programs pays for all the other programs. Baseball is starting to generate revenue at the big time level but can't compare to football and even Basketball.

I was just saying how there is such a difference when it comes to athletic scholarships between the two sports I went to high school with some full blown dummies that were decent football players and got full ride athletic scholarships at our local D1 schools...it was mind blowing actually

I'm just curious who this Austin Stroop kid is that she has trained? Did he ever make it to the pro ranks like Austin Stroupe did before he fell off the wagon??
