I have been a lifelong Cycle News reader and have kept up more than any average person with the Flat Track series and I can't understand what they are talking about?

Think about how these same idiots are making the rules for MX/SX.

I see what they are doing with Harley, Duc and Triumph, but, lets see how a harley twin will fly (and land) at peoria.

Or how a 450 will run for 25 or 30 min wide open at Springfield.

I think a more accurate title should be AMA Pro Racing strikes again. I dont fully object to the idea of running 1 bike in a series, but it seems pretty blatantly catering to Harleys whishes...again.

You are mistaken. The people involved with this decision have NOTHING to do with the Lucas MX Sports National series. Outdoor professional motocross and the rulebook (slightly different from SX) fall under DC and MX Sports' domain.

MX Sports is leasing the rights to the series from DMG who purchased the series from the AMA. MX Sports employees fill the majority of the AMA positions at a National ie Jeff Canfield Race Director

Its to let Ducati and Triumph in because they don't make singles. I think the riders are pissed about the safety aspect of it.

I will wait to see, a twin on a short track might not be very good.

450's have ran on the mile tracks for years so no problem there.

Are the speed higher or tracks gnarlier than they were in the Jay Springsteen days? Real men back in the day rode twins no problem. Should the AMA work to get manufacturers in to racing or make changes to reduce number of manufacturers. Been years since I have posted on Flat Track.com but will check it out.

AMA killed off the flat track series once already when they changed the rules so that Honda would have to run restricter plates so the Harleys could compete and then Honda pulled out and the series died. They have tried to make rule changes to get the other manufactures back in and it has helped because you will see several different brands racing but I am sure the AMA will destroy any progress that have made and send it back to the stone age again. It was a great series to follow but now its a state fair side show. Sad

Harley has never been able to be competitive without rules constantly stacked in their favor. Deja Vu again.

The point of the thread is:

* Stupid names for classes that don't describe the series. I honestly thought it was GNCC off road.

* Rule changes to suit manufacturers. (like no 2 stokes, 250f and 450f classes. Production rule. Homolgation.)

* The riders and fans don't have any voice.

* Leathers for everyone (like road racing)

* The AMA has let the sport die, now (when Marquez, Rossi and Europe are getting into it) they outlaw singles when they are the fastest at some tracks.
