Nocona was one of my favorite tracks. If you build it, they will come.

Nocona had/has amazing dirt! Even though it was on a flat piece of land It use to be one of my favorite places to practice back in 2004-2005. I thought it got shut down due to noise though? Maybe I'm thinking of another track that closed but I'd look into that before reopening it.

The only thing I did not like about Nocona was the lack of organized practice and flaggers.

The place was being ran by the wife of the couple when the ole man passed away. He and her both loved the place but it was too much for her because of her age. I don't think any of the family had any interest. Never heard of noise issue complaints. There is one farmhouse not far from the property, but its a big peice of land, and I hardly think in an unincorporated area up there that could be a problem.

McAfee MX was the place I was thinking about that closed down due to noise complaints from his neighbors and an eventual lawsuit from it.

I'm starting to remember the story about Nocona closing now that you bring up the story about the old man passing away kawasa84.

Gas prices, the drive from DFW, and River Valley killed Nocona... best track killer dirt

McaFee had a county commisioner with property next door. He's the asshole that got that track shut down.

Great dirt there, I mean really great dirt there. The track is a haul for most DFW folks but if for the right price and ran properly with reasonable expectations you might do okay. Treat people well, accomodate them, and motocross folks can be very good return customers. I also heard years back that noise was a problem with Nocona. As for McAfee MX I've never even heard of that place...sounds like some neighbors did though.

I actually had a police man come in at McAfee mx and start harassing me saying that my crf450r was too loud, that he had done noise testing and I was the culprit ....
I told him that's funny because it was a new bike and bone stock from the dealer, so if they had a problem with it to send the ticket to American Honda in California.....

Has River Valley changed the layout recently? I haven't ridden there since last summer. The track could get pretty hammered with kickers in the faces. The owner wasn't shy about putting some water down though which was nice.

I think Oak Hill is the best track in the DFW area.

Nocona is a haul from Dallas. 1hr 45min from the northern Dallas suburbs. The dirt was always spectacular though which is why I always wanted to go. Last time I was there was probably 2005 though.

Track used to be killer. Raced a few races there. I think it started setting the standard on big step downs. It had some really big stuff for 04 era. The dirt was awesome. I love way south near Galveston so I only got to ride there like 3 times.

that was the issue with Nocona there was nothing to block the wind it was bad. I remember seeing DV12 out there one Sunday during his Bookoo days 30mph winds the guy hit very jump NP. It was too cool watching a pro out there, I think everybody more or less pulled off the track and just watched.

Every time I drove to Nocona is was the wind I checked on not rain or anything else.

Good memories there.

I rode RV last weekend and today for the first time in several months. They've turned the track around and I really prefer the new layout. Jump faces were perfect both days. Nico Lattanzio has been doing the jump faces lately and he has got it wired.

Use to have some big jumps if I remember right. O and didn't the Moore brothers (quad riders) run it for a while?
