Huge fan of that rear wheel, WFO style ever since I saw his pro moto debut at GH. And unlike some others, I like his personality too. He's the real deal and says what he means and I'll take that over some sugar coated BS any day.

Good luck with future Endeavors Ryan.
Who Cares who wrote it!!! there's 10 million dicks out there that can write ... But only maybe five that can pin at 450 with reckless abandon like RV did !! it's little comments like these that make me wonder what type of fucking idiots actually really care about the core of the sport !

Horrific crash. WTF?!!!!!!

He looped out. What a douche he was.

But damn he was fast and his riding style left you shaking your head at the level he was at.

I have the same memory....I was there. RV2 was amazing and it was the beginning of the legend.

I said it in another thread, 2007 @ Red Bud. RC vs Bubba and RV vs Townley were four of the best motos I've ever seen. They must have had to replace Ryans throttle cables after each moto because he surely stretched them out twisting that grip so hard!

A great career in both sx and mx and has the ability to leave the sport with his health too. The red headed beast was fun to watch.

Enjoy your retirement RV, well deserved and a true champion icon, just a normal person.

Great privilege to witness his career, glad for him that he can live on his terms without a lot of fuss now.

Congratulations Ryan!

I lived one town over from RV in Washington and occasionally use to catch him when he was a kid racing his 85. At one race he was at in Monroe, the 125s started, then the 85s. He cut through both fields to win. I just remember thinking that I had NEVER seen ANYONE hold the throttle on as deep into a corner as he did.

After the moto, he sat in front of me on the bleachers. The name on his jersey VILLOPOTO went from the left elbow around to the right. Cracked me up. I knew that he was going to be a top contender, and the number on his back was going to get a lot smaller.

I also saw RV at Red Bud. I will NEVER forget him railing the very top edge of the big right-handed berm before the left turn and jump before the back whoop section. I've never seen anybody carry so much speed on a 250f hanging off the back like that around a corner. I rank it right up there with Stewart on a 125 at Millville - simply amazing.

RC was always my favorite rider, but RV comes in 2nd. Glad I got to see him ride in person a few times.
