Good interview & interesting about the poor track prep, been something allot of people been mentioning they like / dislike about MXGP / AMA.
I agree with what he's saying about MXdN as well.

Totally agree with him on MXoN. Why we are naming our team at this stage seems ridiculous to me. So much can change in the time between now and the end of September

I'm not sure Shaun Simpson will be too happy to read that interview, but in fairness to Tommy, I don't think anything he said was incorrect

Yep, I'm sure Simpson wouldn't be thrilled to read that but like you say, it's fact.

It's easy to say that Simpson and Anstie are our best riders when the majority of the British riders are out injured. Okay Shaun has had some great rides this season and I'm a big fan of his, but you could argue that he is in the form of his life at the moment. Tommy has had a torrid season, he's just returned from a long spell of injury and is instantly on the same pace as Simpson. Even Nathan Watson was not too far off his pace in his first race back after 3/4 months off with injury. Shaun has had a great season and he should probably on the team, but I just wonder if they've picked the team a little bit prematurely

After that interview i spoke to a couple of other people about the MXoN situation and honestly I just don't get why it got announced already

Right now, Shaun definitely deserves that spot, and if he beats Tommy in every race for the rest of the year I think Tommy would be first to hold his hands up and say the same.... but why announce now? There are still 7 rounds left... plus Dean Wilson has to come back, Nathan Watson, Jake Nicholls....

Logistically, the MXoN is in France, so it's not like a lot of planning has to go into that either.... i honestly can't find a good reason to announce it, and i think Tommy was equally as baffled with the decision.

Bit harsh on Shaun as he had a good ride for 3rd at the weekend in the first moto, what has Tommy achieved since being in mxgp?

A lot of injuries. But he has consistently beaten Simpson. Like I said, Shaun is in the form of his life, Tommy is coming off one of the toughest times in his career and a long time off with injury and they were the same speed first race back

Granted got to give it to Tommy I do think he is our most talented rider out of the pick, well between him and dean both had a brilliant nations last year. Just seems a little bitter in the interview that Shaun's taken his spot as first choice. I do think they should of left it until the end of August to pick the team anything can happen between now and September! I'm sure Tommy will be there in the open class. Either way will be out there supporting the lads!

I agree with Searle that the team shouldn't be chosen this early, it should be picked closer to the time- with who is on the best form. But he's made himself look really stupid in my opinion by moaning about shaun being picked. Shaun is leading the british championship, 7th in the world championship and has several top 6 finishes in the gps this year, and a podium. Searles has done absolutely nothing this year! bearing in mind tommy is on the full factory ktm team, shaun is basically on a privateer team...

tommy rode really well at the nations last year, so did dean Wilson. But they both need to prove their form before saying things like that! if tommy is better then shaun- go out there and beat him! consistently, until the nations.

Yeah I don't think he is bitter, questioning the sense of it yes, and why not? Shaun is having a great year, I say he deserves a spot but fuck it's early in the year for such announcements. That's where tommy is coming from, he's just saying it as he does, like a normal kid and not a p.r bot

So, to sum up the itw : "Nothing is my fault, all tracks are shit, other English riders are inferior to me even when they ride a lot better than i do." Pure Searle, as usual.

sounds about right! maybe ktm could give shaun some factory support at the nations if he gets picked and tommy doesn't... he sees to be more deserving of it this year!

maybe that's why tommy is moaning about simpson, worried that he might get the ride at factory ktm next year...
