kill switch question

I have a honda killswitch for my 2000 kx 250. I wired the bk/w wire from the switch to the bk/w wire in my harness and grounded the other wire. I noticed today that the ground wire came loose but the killswitch will still shut off the bike. Is that normal or have i wired it wrong? Ive been experiencing a strange deal where my engine will be running fine at low speeds then just die. Related?

I had a similar problem with my 2010 crf250 bike would fire up run fine then just shut off.. It did this like 10 times in 20 minutes. Later that nite i went on this forum and some one told me to put a new kill switch on my bike. I did and it fixed the problem. If i were you i would just buy the write one for your bike on amazon they are like 30 dollars. But i will check my manuals wiring diagram and let you know.

My guess is the kill switch grounds through the mount (the little steel ring) as well for safety as a secondary backup. You can check continuity with a meter

I'm trying to wrap my head around this, but I don't think the kill switch would ground if you have rubber mounted handle bars... not sure how that would work.

I'm curious if a new switch solves the problem though. Interesting scenario.

I have an 04 CRF250. I was curious and checked if there is continuity from the switch strap to the frame, on my bike there is.

Interesting. There must be a connection through the bar mount bolts or something. Who'd a thunk?
