So here in the states we hear all the time how Dungey is gifted championships! If AC222 wins this championship will it be a gift also???? He was third in points until Desalle got hurt and was in second until Max got hurt? Or does this only apply to Dungey?

I my self do not believe that there is such thing as a gifted championship, if you are close enough to capatilize on someone's misfortune you deserve to win the title.

A championship is won by the rider who has the most points accumulated at the end of the season. Pretty simple. You race who shows up. You beat them enough times...you win. There are no "gifts" in racing.

I don't believe in gifted championships, and anybody who thinks that a championship is a gift or luck has probably never competed for anything other than a title in the novice class.

Mit12, you should be at the Glen Helen GP, ask as many GP riders as you can whether there position in the Championship points was "gifted" to them. 19 GP's, 38 moto's and several continents, point tally at the end is how the Championship is determined.

The asterisk BS got started by a certain fan group who was always butthurt that their guy couldnt make it through a full season. Like pretty much everything else from this group, it has virtually no credibility .

You completly mis understood my post.
There are no gift championships, I said this. My post is about the A Holes thar are constantly bagging on Dungey about being gifted titles, needing an * by his championships etc.

How long have you been watching GPs, just out of curiosity? Even if in the past years Desalle and Nagl had injuries Cairoli was always the most deserving rider and at the end of the year he won. You wanna say it isn't like that? Where's the luck here?

Well this year if he win yes, it will be a "gift" as he wasn't the best for sure this season but trust me, this would be the first gift Cairoli has ever had in his career. Dungey's scenarios are totally different, reason why you shouldn't compare him to Cairoli.
... and I'm not talking as a fan, I always try to be objective when I write something publicly, otherwise I shut up and I don't open such threads like this Wink

Yes, missed it slightly. Stated multiple times (here and elsewhere) - there are no gifted championships. Everyone who places in a series earns there place no mater how many races they finish or don't finish.

Oh wait, Hannah let teammates by twice (?) so they could win the title. Both times he would not be able to win the title himself.

" * " is a fan thing, not a rider / racers thing.

Doesn't matter who wins the title this year. With RV injured it's an asterisk for whoever is champion.
