My clutch seems to be slipping at wide open ,but only for the first few laps. I was running trans fluid ,now went back to 15-40 shell rotellla, but havnt ridden the bike yet.
I have new frictions and steels on order. EBC frictions and Barnett steels. My springs are within spec, but I may replace them.
My question is about the springs. The manual says that they should be flush with the backside of the hub. Can I turn them an additional amount for more tension so they protrude? Also how critical is a slightly warped friction or steel ?
Thanks

and then screw them in flush, makes it a lot tougher to get
the pin into position...unless you have one of Suzuki's puller
or similar. Check your inner hub & outer pressure plates
surface for wear, I like to deglaze these as well when replacing
the clutch.
Also check where the shaft that pulls the pressure
plate out on the clutch cover itself, where it goes into the bore
there is no bearing there for it to ride on, only the aluminum
of the cover, it should rotate freely in the cover as well, they can
get moisture/corrosion under the seal area too. This lower bore
can wear/oval and cause clutch slippage, we usually only saw it
on higher mileage TS models but it can still apply to your RM, GL.
