There are some of us that simply love 2 strokes and don't hate fourstrokes. Apparently for some every positive two stroke post or thread seems to threaten the shit out of those die hard four stroke dudes.

Stock two stroke 250 and a stock 4 stroke 250 are about the same money. The fact that you show up to the line with a stock 250 2 stroke engine lined up next to a $10,000.00-$25,000.00 modded 250F engine designed to last one day is the beauty of it all. Better have a spare thumper mill in the trailer too! Of course 25 grand would probably be on the low end for one of Chimichanga's engines...Shocked

The Japanese aren't happy that we won't bow to their almighty 4 stroke. Meanwhile KTM continues to kick ass giving the customer what they want. And speaking of want, that FE250 was looking mighty good the other day. What is the weight on that thing now??? Can't be owning a bike that is fatter than I!Laughing
Deaest Lord of Tahitian Red,

While you and I both know the merits of your argument, up in Canada, an average 250 4T engine has...on average...a piston, head-work, cam, remap/controller, pipe, race fuel...yada, yada, yada...to that end...there are a few engines that sound and appear to have had the crank gone thru...etc. I'd say that there are as many as -8- well built 250 engines that're built and maintained along the lines of what you're saying...to the tune of $10K Canadian. And I'd go as far as to say that the motors that matter are all under the awnings of the supported teams...

The real point: there aren't any Totally Ridonkulous Motors like you and I see in the Engine Racks during Supercross.

On the other-hand, Benoit has a VERY NICE LOOKING AND ALWAYS FRESH 250SX Engine in his race bike; and, I'm quite sure it IS made of STOCK PARTS...Really, Really NICE and WELL BALANCED STOCK PARTS. JSR ain't stupid and that bike looks AMAZINGLY well "manicured".

AS IT SHOULD! Just like the insane 4T bikes it's racing against.

As to the hardware: Anyone know what the ignition, reeds, pipe-silencer, plug (is a Stock Plug implied?), air-boot, carb, air-box/filter/basket, which power-valve-springs, clutch (it has a Rekluse cover...Torq-Drive?) etc, etc, etc...anyone know?

If a guy could build his bike along the lines of the JSR 250SX...he should.

But, I could be wrong...

So, go back...read the whole thing...and get back to me.

As for the idea that you can post this shit whithout seeing the usual Two-Stroke-Taliban BS...well...that's on you.

Let's be clear: I -DID- post a thread that the 2-stroke guys SHOULD go up to Canada nad see what's goping on...'cause, it's AWESOME. Benoit is amazing. The sound of his bike is Amazing. The whole damn Canadian Scene is AMAZING.

The comlete Fools-Folly BS that idiots post about 2-Strokes being killed by Honda...etc. ...?

That's just Stupid.
Well, I went back and reread the thread just to make sure I was correct... And... not a single reference to Benoit winning BECAUSE he was on a 2 stroke.

I get the frustration with people sounding like broken records bitching about Honda killing the 2 stroke etc. all of the conspiracy theories and so on. The fact is, Honda made a choice they thought would be in the company's best interest. Some people don't like that choice. I personally am not a fan of it. The rules are definitely twisted encouraging the 4 strokes in US and FIM racing and it would really add to the racing if a solution was found. Certain companies don't want that solution to be found. That pisses a bunch of people off.

Look at the front page of this forum. 9/10ths of all topics are useless, regurgitated drivel. Why does this subject make you so angry? People are passionate about MX. People are passionate about the type of bike they choose to ride. That passion can drive some pretty spirited arguing.

It's all in fun and some people take this forum way too serious.

One thing I think most of us can agree on is finding parity between 2 and 4 strokes can lead to some really cool racing to watch...

I stand corrected....... Looked up his info and your right, they are fielding 1 guy at least, good for them.

What would be interesting is for some one who might be willing to provide some level of budget for a 250 4 stroke engine vs a 2 stroke engine expense over the course of 8 or 10 races. I have read where the difference is so much that teams do not go racing with a 4 stroke.
