I've got this old run down 91 wr250. I spent some time with her today and have her running pretty crisp. Of course looking at her, she's rough. I've spent the better part of this evening searching the web for plastics; shrouds and panels. It's been proving to be quite tough.
I've checked my local dealers and they can't get anything before '98
I've skimmed through the web and found this site.. It seemed that there's some fellows doing some nice Yamaha builds. Can you guys help me out and point me in the right direction?

Where do I find complete plastic kits for this bike?

Thanks in advance!

PulpMX is doing a rebuild of an '88 YZ250. You should follow this because not only does it have the same plastic, it's 99% the same mechanically. You should search for 88-92 YZ stuff, that is what your WR is, a stock 88-92 YZ250 with a Wide Ratio transmission, a flywheel weight and a lighting coil (not sure if Yamaha was putting a kickstand on those years.)

UFO is going to have most of what you need, if not all. I think Yamaha introduced the WR as the "YZ-WR" in 1989 and froze the design. The only external change Yamaha did to those years on the YZ was go from conventional forks to USDs in 89 and change to the later style front fender and numberplate in 92 (graphics changed each year). As I said, the YZ-WR was frozen at 1989 so I don't believe any of this affects you.

Clarke makes replacement tanks (the white is a different shade than either Yamaha or UFO). But at least it is a new tank.

Yamaha should have the front and rear fenders still, but I would buy everything from UFO so it matches.

You can get a blue replacement seatcover from that guy in Thailand who advertises on eBay. The graphics should be easy to reproduce locally, Yamaha was pretty basic on the YZ-WR bikes.

I have a WR250 from the next generation, 1994 (actually it's an Ohlins 360) but the 89-92 were much, much better looking bikes IMHO. Yamaha got a lot right with your bike.

Thank you for your reply.
I found all the part numbers for the panels. Now it's just a matter of locating the parts. I will check with UFO and see what they can do for me.

Thank you

There is a big UFO importer in the UK who regularly lists on eBay, you can get everything from there if the local dealer will not order.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

What's the best way to contact you?

I'm looking for a few things for my '87 YZ 80 build.

If you don't mind taking the time to check the dealer database please let me know.

Thanks
