I agree, don't wash the blood off the bike. No one will start on the line next to you!

I had a similar wound on my arm, and it healed great! You should be able to ride at the end of May. Just be sure to wear an elbow pad or something that will cover it. If not, if you fall on that side and just slide a little, it will open up again.

I've got a lot of swelling today. I'm going to see a surgeon tomorrow to make sure all is good. Pain isn't bad at all. I have to keep my arm straight so it's making everyday things a chore.

Do the docs think you broke something or ruined some tendons, is that why you are seeing a surgeon? That's a bummer!

What's a bitch is you had to be worrying about bleeding to death, you get the bikes back & still got to load them.

They didn't do any x rays in the ER because my pain level was so low and my movement was fine. I can't imagine anything being broken with such little pain.. but the swelling is unsettling. The surgeon just wants to look it to make sure everything is good. Movement in my fingers and hand I'd good and I still seem to have good grip strength. I'm hoping the swelling is just from the trauma to the flesh and nothing more serious.

Haha luckily I've got some good riding buddies that loaded my stuff up and drove my truck home.

Well this is what my elbow looks like a couple weeks after the crash. The cut is going back together good. I still have a couple spots that like to bleed a little but the doctor says it's normal. Hopefully I get to take the stitches out today or tomorrow. The large knot looking thing on my forearm is fluid build up. I'm going to a specialist to see what we need to do about it. It stretches my skin and seems like it hampers my range of motion.

I experienced a lot of muscle atrophy in my upper arm. I basically didn't flex my left arm at the elbow for over a week. One of my doctors told me I'd lose range of motion if I didn't start moving it. I was thinking "yeah right, it's fine." When I went to extend my arm, I could only muster about 140 degrees before I began to feel tons of painful tension in my tendons. I've been trying to rehab ever since. I'm gaining flexibility and strength back quickly.

I would never clean that bike. Ultimate intimidation factor in the pits and on the line.
Too bad you didn't get blood all over the front forks, number plate and fender. People would have just gotten out of your way!!Laughing

It's no good if there isn't blood in the picture......It's amazing how the body releases painkilling chemicals during serious trauma like this! I traumatically amputated the tip of a finger and didn't feel a thing. Same thing with many of the bones I've broken. Usually the pain starts later that night or the next day, but by then you have meds to take the edge off. You went from a bike trail to the recovery trail....good luck.....and chicks dig scars! (edit - Olsen, you beat by 3 mins)

Got the stitches taken out today. The doc told me the lump is just old blood that has built up under my skin. Makes sense.. the blood that oozes out is very dark red. I was told what doesn't leak out will most likely be absorbed by my tissues over time. I guess I'll just be stuck with a funky looking elbow for a while.

The funny thing is since I'm a police officer.. the first thing everyone asks is "did you get stabbed?!?".
