There is daily reports of boats comming into Italy .. Hundreds if not thousands of people each day. There's talk of upped border / trafic / transport patrol at borders with France due to this. No muslim invasion in my country that happened many many years ago ... big cities have more immigrants then original inhabbitants i would say.. good thing i life far away out in the farm fields and polders.. Nice and calm Smile

I live in the most southern part of spain, where more than half of the inmigrants from africa enter Europe.... I havent noticed shit about any invassion.

I have seen in the strait of Gibraltar were a air boat almost sink with 30 people sinking with it. I doubt they where there by pleasure.

Most of these people coming from africa are running from the hell in their country.

You dont think that it MIGHT be possible that extremists are coming in with the refugees, and are waiting until they have enough members to stage some sort of large scale attack?

If I remember correctly, 9/11 was the work of guys who had been living and training in the US for quite some time

I think the extremists usually "travel" in more sophisticated ways than in small, overloaded boats or other refugee ways. The people who come usually flee from the extremists, they are rarely the extremists. But I do think it might be possible, rather unlikely though. The 9/11 guys were rather legal immigrants than refugees, if I am not mistaken.

I wouldnt really expect to... most of the time you try to be realistic about situations, people call you racist and try to make themselves seem morally superior to you, regardless of actual fact.

Seems like we've had a large group of African immigrants (aka former slaves) in the US who still havnt assimilated and are still the cause of most of the societal issues in the US. Gun violence? Blacks... Violent crime? Blacks... Rape and murder? Blacks... Failing education system? Blacks.... Youd think with all the programs that cater specifically to blacks that they would be way ahead of where they are now as a race.

Id also think people would recognize it, but they would rather just call you a racist to make themselves and their own issues seem better. So much of peoples perception is clouded by the desire to make themselves feel superior to their fellow man. I MIGHT NOT MAKE A LOT OF MONEY BUT AT LEAST IM NOT A RACIST!!

I think most ordinary people have concerns and fears (justifiably) with almost any new influxes of immigration, particularly from the 3rd world. A degree of caution is common sense. It's inevitable, natural even, that certain groups are going to be flagged higher in peoples minds as a potential problem in some areas.

To answer the OP, yes I am concerned from the pov of potentially importing terrorists because these people are committed and perfectly capable of going to those lengths to get in. But I'm also (depending on the numbers) concerned from an economic pov - the last thing working class people in the UK need is an increase in unskilled labour, not to mention the other pressures inherent to a country that's already overcrowded. However I do agree with the point that the UK has had a large hand in creating the hell hole that Libya is today and from which many are understandably desperate to escape. Therefore we are obligated (imo) to step up further and take on a greater share.

I lived in Canada for 15 months now, back in the UK for the moment them I'm heading to Australia and NZ for a bit and make a decision i think.

As much as I really like the USA, it is pretty much impossible to emigrate to so its not even worth trying.

My cousin is a British citizen, clean criminal record, married to a major in the US army who has done a tour of Afghanistan, her child is an American citizen and she is an elementary school teacher and she was turned down for a green card. It's insane.

In the UK , the biggest problem is the new countries coming into the EU, the country is getting overrun with firstly Poles , which to be fair , are pretty hardworking and reasonable, but then came the Romanians, and since then its just gone downhill fast.. you cant walk round a supermarket here and not here as many non english as english conversations.

As for the Indian / pakistani/ middle east /african side of things, that ship sailed years ago, the whole media booga booga about terrorism is just trying to drum up business for the people who fund the government, and the people stirring the pot are those who are being funded to do so by the usual suspects.

What facts? To understand that article you have to understand the lease system in the country. Anyone can go in an purchase property and throw out the current residents. If you want to be sure to live in one place you purchase your home, not rent it. In this case it just happend to be a company running a business that focuses on homes for immigrants. What's the difference if a company that runs an art gallery goes in and purchases a building, throws out the people living there and open a gallery? The only thing that's guaranteed in a lease is 3 months notice. In this case they offer the tenants a compensation to be out faster. What bothers me in this cases is that the immigrants have become a business. People making money on peoples misery.
