There is a serious amount of salt in this thread...

It's an 8 second video of a kid doing a big jump because HE IS CAPABLE AND HE CAN.

The assumptions about this other skills (cornering) is just plain laughable. Really Rock? Why don't you let this fast amateur (possibly soon to be pro) and his family worry about what he's doing?

Also, big jump or not, that landing leaves quite a bit of margin for error.

Great post, until your last sentence. You couldn't be more wrong, there is zero room for error on the landing of that jump.
Well, perhaps you're right... Maybe I need to drive down there and see it in person. It's definitely not peaked out to make coming up a few feet short completely disastrous though.

Almost as wrong as the guy who guaranteed Stewart's suspension had been lifted (and put his left nut on the line that it was true) chimes in and has yet to admit he was wrong. Man that takes a huge testicle to keep on posting LOL

Wow man, you really need to lighten up, stop assuming, and stop exaggerating.

Clipping the mellowest landing ramp at that speed and height is disastrous. Same goes for over shooting. Let's not talk about the double after the jump.

I am just having fun. I have posted long enough to know not to take any of this seriously.

Rick M-I just remembered you did reference you were wrong (will click myself for a few days) so no worries. I would remember the old adage don't gamble anything you can't afford to lose in the future.

Someone shed some light on this for me.
First guy (Rookie White) who did this jump a while back, did he come from the parking lot to hit the quad? or did he come from the track like this last guy?
Both awesome

I agree 100 percent Fat Fingers. Something tells me this guy is a professional practice rider and not a MX racer....but I've been wrong before. Wrong or right color me unimpressed as jumps like that IMHO have zero to do with MX.

How can you tell if he has good or bad corner speed from that video?
You know how you hate when people jump to conclusions when you post?

Just watched the rookie white jump again and I can't tell where he is coming from but it doesn't look like he is coming out of the turn! Any thoughts?

O, since big jumps are why everyone is getting hurt according to the rock, why have so many died in road racing the last few years? They never have jumps.

I know both those guys personally, the second a lot better than the first. The White one I was there, he was on track until after the jump, never making the corner. Byrne jump is different, he is on track in beginning. Cant see what he did after. Either way is impressive, although many top guys would do. Just going fast on a regular practice day is a danger.

Soon riders are gonna need to think about adding the coriolis effect into their calculations.

This guy didnt look near as sketchy as White jumping it, and wasnt near anyone else. Its really bad track design, but whatever floats his boat.

RV2 broke his ass on one of those "safe" GP tracks... Just as many people hurting themselves BAD on hills, straights and corners.

I dislocated my hip on the slowest corner on the track here.

Credit should not go to BobbyM. All credit should be awarded to your stupidity and extreme unintelligent positions on motorcycles.

Well whether the guy can corner or not he is definitely getting some attention from that jump just just as white did.

Not in the least Michael. It is sad however that some Vital MXers can't debate the safety issues our sport is facing long term without making it personal.

Only thing I really care about is seeing the sport expand not contract.

You didn't really debate it considering you questioned the kid's motivation and skill beyond jumping, that made it personal in its' own way.

Rookie White also came down the hill turning to hit it. The first roller wasn't there but the jump was different, the second jump was a double which was spread father out. Go watch his video.

I expressed my opinion but did not question the kid's motivation and skill beyond jumping. What you wrote is your interpretation of my posts and doesn't reflect reality. If you disagree please copy and paste my posts to prove your point.

More importantly has Vital MX changed recently to where we are not allowed to express our opinions?

Also why are you taking me to task over expressing my opinion while others don't abide by the rules GuyB has posted and don't get called out for the name calling/insults directed towards me? People drop F bombs left and right but get passes as well Do the rules apply to everyone or not?

The price for the Motodrive/Vital Forums is free. A lot of the action is, too. But that doesn’t mean you can come in an be a complete…well, the name we’re thinking of starts with D, and ends with what sounds like oosh. We can get enough of that in real life, and we come here for fun, and to talk with like-minded motocross riders and fans.

We do expect you to maintain at least a reasonable level of civility. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Don’t post things that you wouldn’t say when face-to-face with another person. So name calling, insults, and personal attacks are lame. So is keyboard bravery. We’d like the activity to be more like Bourbon Street at 2:00AM, not downtown Baghdad at 2:00AM. This stuff should be fun for everyone, not painful.

Show respect. Not only to each other, but when posting about riders, team personnel, officials, etc. If you can’t, don’t be shocked if you have posted deleted, or moved to other forums (like The Dumbgeon)

Language: In the past, the only word we used to c•ns•r was c•ns•rsh•p. We know that some of you like the freedom to speak your mind…but keep the language reasonable. We don’t want to be the language police. And remember, there are moms, wives, and kids running around here as well.
