This is one of my all time favorite vids, back when moto was on ABC Wide World of Sports. The 1985 Carlsbad USGP, it is in 2 parts,

1st moto, check out at the 6:09 min mark, watch a very young Ronnie Lechien powerslide that works 500, feet on the pegs through that tight right hander, its a thing of pure beauty. Ronnie is poetry in motion!

In this segment Gary Bailey also teaches Jim Lampley how to ride, its hilarious!

Moto2, they go to DB's house and show him practicing on his home track, its so awesome, also shows him and young Gina (now his wife), at Davids house.

Thanks Scottie. That made my evening. Hard to believe they would DQ Broc for going the wrong way for 5 feet.

I learned how to gut it out, hang on and pray riding that track. Acquired one of my best scars their as well. Sure do miss such a place only being 15 minutes away.

RIP Carlsbad

Right on , that was way cool . I went to the Suzuki school of motocross there in 1977 when Mark Blackwell taught it . I'd like to see the full results of that race if anyone knows where to find them ..

Thanks for a great post.

Carlsbad GP. To see the Carlsbad Freeway, Devils Drop, the bumps, the dust, the heat...I'm back there racing CMC as a kid again. And to see pure works bikes hauling the mail...
