Steven Frossard is a wild horse with an edge for disaster, but his speed can't be denied.

All he needed was someone like Claudio De Carli to bring out the best of him, but unfortunally he never had any: Rinaldi was a very good manager back in his days, but today the team seem to have lost the plot, and Frossard was their biggest remorse, i'm afraid

I still think he'd be a good choice, not for the championship maybe, but for some regular podium battle, with someone really supporting him mental wise.

As for the future, if i had any money, i'd bet on Febvre
Biggest disappointment of the year so far is indeed Frossard. Seems far from comfortable and rides without confidence.

I know he injured his hand in England, but even before that he was very much off the pace in Maxxis and the three first GP's.

It just shows what a mental game MX is. How it can sometimes be easier to have a great breakthrough year in MX1/MXGP but so hard to make the transition to be there every race and every season.

I was ready to write Strijbos off a few years ago when he was struggling at Kawasaki. But he somehow found his groove again and delivered top five's and even podiums again.

Besides what's happening in the top 5 it's also very interesting to follow the guys who are struggling. I'm almost certain JVH can turn his season around. I'm not so sure about Frossard and KDD.

Febvre is very impressive so far. He was great already last year in mx2 but could have had even better results without crashes here and there that kept him from podiums and even overall wins. They were very understandable and easy to forgive since he was still improving and pushing to the limit. This year however he seems to ride inside his limits(although at the very top of his capacity) It's hard to tell how good he can get, but it looks very promising. I think he benefits from being the 2nd rider in that team as well. If he was to get injured now he could probably still get a raise in his contract next year. JVH quite the opposite.

Does anyone know anything about KDD? I'm hoping to see him deliver some good results and cheer for him but not much to smile about so far as a fan of the Belgish giant. Could he be a solution at Kawasaki next year? Both he and Paulin are tall guys that like bmx at least...

I think De Dycker is doing pretty okay, after missing almost a whole year of riding GP's being in shape. That takes time to be on race pace again, and he's slowly getting there. He said himself he didn't want to do anything stupid early in the season and just survive the 3 overseas. Once in Europe he wanted to get better and better, and it seems that is working. He got a bit lucky positionwise with the crashes of Villopoto and Van Horebeek, but he was there. I don't think he will be a regular for the podium, but if he has his day, he could be.

Where do you think he will end up 2016? Maybe I'm asking for too much too soon and he is doing okay...Hope they put the camera more on him in Valkenswaard, he has been almost invisible so far this year.

There is a unbelievable amount of talent upcoming in 2-3 years. As I touched on before, Pit has been snagging them with 4-6 year contracts in the EMX ranks. Not much left to pick from after he's finished but there are some who are overlooked and slip through the KTM net.
Some that are running under the radar at the moment but are signed
Golovkin, Russia
Herbreteau, France ( Tixier's replacement)
Graulus, Bel
Watson, GBR
Just some random thoughts: Zach returning , Smothering Anstie with cash & KRT kisses, Smooching Guillod and opening a Swiss bank account in his name. Make KRT take Russian lessons and promise Brylyakov anything.Get Conrad Mewes signed to a 100 year contract with all the bells and whistles.

Golovkin? Are you kidding me? That guy only has a ride because daddy Golovkin has a lot of money. The last couple of years he has attended almost every GP, but hardly scored any points (0 in 2012, 1 in 2013, 1 in 2014). Honestly, I was suprised he already gathered 17 points in the first three GP's this year. Now we're back in Europe were the field gets deeper, and he's nowhere near the points again. Seriously, nobody is waiting for him, or it must be for his dad's money.
I keep getting him mixed up with Brylyakov. I didn't catch that in my post. He's scored 17 already? That's almost 17 seasons worth of points...Blink

Best shot at beating AC for a title is throwing a shitload of money at Herlings. He knows the tracks and has the talent.

I wonder how fit Rattray is for this weekend and is he just filling a seat and looking to at least pull in a few manufacturers points? 4 races into the season and are the small nagging injuries issues already starting to materialize on a already beat up ancient body? Anyone heard a medical update?

My sources told me that the Rattray deal was done before the RV thing was anywhere near , so he isnt there because of RV , but i think it helped that he was there for RV to come.

I have to say that he hasnt done anything now for 2 seasons pretty much , and it shows , the speed isnt there, and i dont really think that it ever has been on a big bike , he is a victim of the 250 age limit as much as anyone else.

As for where to Kawasaki go now.. well i dont see Anstie as enough of a threat yet to be the man in MX2 when Herlings goes, but i would look at Herbetreau and Sterry for MX2 , to be a good start at rebuilding the CLS base, and then for MX1 , i cant see Yamaha letting Febvre go any time soon, or JVH either, as there arent any better riders to replace them with , Bobryshev needs to step up at Honda, but i think he brings money, so that helps, Desalle is settled on the Suzuki, Stribos is still looking good, even though he is on his second go round too.

Ice One have Nathan Watson who is still very young , he could be an MX2 rider for 3 or 4 years , based on his improvement since he got the full time gig, he could be worth a punt , but i would be staying where he is , having fitted in well there.

Does it open the door for a US rider to come,, i doubt it seeing as they cant fill the seats they have already, but its fair to say , from looking like a proper contender for the title in 2014 with Frossard and Paulin , they arent looking too good for 2016 .

I didn't, but since concussions are an unpleasant affair I'd like to think it could be a last minute decision. Hope he'll be fine

2 rider injuries 4 races into a long season. Could a plan B be in the works?

And i though i was being daft.

Maybe Tanel Leok might get a call.

If Rattray is going to continue to struggle , injured or otherwise, if he has a 2 year deal at Kawasaki, some tough decisions are going to have to be made. He might turn it round, but i dont see him as anything other than an 8 to 10 guy even if he does.

Too bad David Philippaerts is very happy with his own DP19 team, that would have been a big plus for RV having a MX1 World Champion teammate to show him the ropes.

That would of been way way better. At this point I see Rattray as a goner. I can only hope RV gives it another shot next year.

I'm afraid David Philippaerts is going down the sunset strip at lightning speed.

not only his best days are over, but are over his so and so days too.

Italy's is in for disasters after Cairoli, Philippaerts and Guarneri call themselves off. Lupino is sadly a never-was, and there's nobody in sight to replace them all

That is very true , Lupino has never really pulled the trigger, and like the Germans , there is nobody really coming through to take the mantle of the likes of Cairoli and Roczen. Its all cyclic though , the next generation are in EMX , and in 2 years we will know.

What I find strange is that DP actually looked pretty good in the pre-season Italian Championship, he would have had some great finishes if it wasn't for mechanical failures. Now he's nowhere to be found in MXGP!

I've never, EVER seen someone ride as wild as Philippaerts, rev limiting the shit out of his throttle everywhere in the track, rear tyre spinning like a windmill.

That kind of riding is pretty demanding, and he had some mayor injuries a few years ago: both whirst broken two years in a row is something that hits you right in the face and take all the "cockyness" that any champ should have out of you.

he's fast sometimes somewhere, but i'm afraid he doesn't have the stamina and "crazyness" to sunstain that kind of mad riding style anymore.

he'll fight for ten overall, and that's it.
4/23/2015 5:34pm
David needs to concentrate on riding again, he's been pretty healthy as of late but has so much non-riding duties running a team plus having a upcoming rider in EMX. He is in his swan song days as a rider but rode with determination and could take up a whole track better than Keeno. If David didn't want to be passed , you didn't pass. Have to admire the guy for forming his own team from really nothing and riding at the same time, true MotoX Champion blood running in those veins.

Philippaerts is one of my favourites on the track. His no nonsense, aggressive style made me a fan. He never was the kind of guy who got GP victories week after week, but he really earned his worldtitle in 2008. After that he got a victory or a podium now and then, but got overpowerd by his teammate at the time, Steven Frossard. He had to settle with smaller teams to ride for and got injured more than once.

DP is one of the main reasons I love watching GP's.
