Throttle housing lubrication

What's the best way to lubricate a new throttle tube and housing? Or are folks running them "dry"? If it matters this is on an vintage two stroke (obviously single pull).

I used TRI-FLON Teflon spray on all my cables and throttle assembly

I have tried lubricating it with various things but it all eventually builds up with dirt so I run it dry now. If you clean it all with soap and a toothbrush and keep the cables lubed it works well

My only concern with running dry is the potential increased risk of having some grit work in and instead of slide around in goo - embed and cause the throttle to stick. Granted we should pull apart these things for regular cleaning & inspection regardless of lube / no lube.. but it just seems safer with some kind of oily substance in there.

I watched a mechanic how to a while back and follow that procedure.

Cable lubricant for throttle cable, add a small amount of grease on the bar, slide throttle tube on, adjust, tighten and wipe excess from build up. My throttle assembly has a rubber cover so I am not too concerned otherwise.

just a thought, i have never done it but i bet a dry lubricant would be the best bet. (graphite powder)

i use a little greese on mine.

Tri-Flo is hands down the best stuff ever for bike lube. I also have a white paste teflon lube that is really light and great for areas like the throttle.........

Spray-on makes an aerosol that dries almost instantly into graphite powder. or hobby lube from autozone,it is a powder and comes in a tube. Both work great and don't attract grit.
