Does anyone have both or have had both and what's your opinion? Is the 150 significantly stronger? I'm open to all opinions...

I have the YZ and with jetting/gearing it does well but being 190 I'm too heavy. I'm considering mod'ing to a 144 to get some extra power. I like the stock YZ as it's bullet proof.

I ride only MX and there are a lot of doubles right out of a corner that I just can't clear. If I had more power or weighed 140 it would different. The YZ power band is very broad for a 125, I just want more.

Open for suggestions...

I have both and the 150sx is way more powerful than the yz125. On the 150sx I run the less aggresive map setting and adjusted the power valve for less bottom end hit for track riding.

I have a 150 and a buddy has a YZ125. The power difference is certainly noticeable but will it solve your problem of clearing the doubles? It depends, how short are you from clearing them? If by a bike length, then maybe you have a chance. If more than that, I doubt that the 144 kit will guarantee that you'll clear them.

We own a 15 SX125 and a 15 YZ125. One of my best friends has a SX150 and I personally race our 15 YZ125 (I'm 190lbs), son races the SX 125... On a open fast track I would take the SX125 as far as motor goes, just stretches gears longer. On a tight jumpy track the 150 is better just having a little extra grunt off the bottom but signs off sooner than the SX125. Personally the suspension on the YZ trumps any advantage the SX125 or SX150 may have by a long shot. It hits harder than the SX125 in bottom & mid and is just a killer bike!

Our local tuner gets 43 hp out of a yz144 kit with race gas . That's what I would do as you can't eve make the KTM suspension as good as the yzs

Eric Gorr would be a great choice.

The KTM is actually a 144. I had a worn out cylinder so Eric Gore bored it 2mm over. Now with the engine being a 155, the bike really pulls hard(for a 155). Eric does great work.
