AMA resets points for remaining rounds

This is what a Chase format would do for the last 4 rounds. 4 sell outs and possibly TV ratings that would allow the series to make money to be broadcast instead of paying money. Which in turn means more money to the riders.
Top ten n points were awarded a chase position along with any race winners. Each race win received 1 bonus point which meant all races leading to the chase were extremely intense hard fought racing. No freight trains were seen up to round 14

Top ten eligible for the Championship:

Dungey - 6
Tomac - 2
Canard - 2
Roczen - 2
Reed - 1
Seely - 0
Anderson - 0
Baggett - 0
Tickle - 0
Short - 0

Yeah this would really suck for the last 4 rounds

I hate Nascar but was just thinking of this.

Dungey would be losing alot of sleep if this were the case.

It would suck for Dungey,who has ridden a mostly flawless season, to be knee capped with a 4 point lead cause you have ADD.

Well of course you would feel for someone like Dungey who is running away from it this year. But i think Dungey is all for good competiton and would welcome anything that would help his sport gain interest. Right now people are cringing when he gets a good start knowing that the race is over. If Tomac or Reed are running up front with this reset there will be no easy wins for the Dung the rest of the way

ADD may be more healthy than a closed mind, those do nothing but limit growth

Do we still run a 20 rider field?

I think 10 riders qualified, but the regular season earned no points. (Undefeated Kentucky went home last night)

How would you shake it up further?

I would also require no helmets on the riders until the 60 second board goes up. We need facetime.

Johnny I would run the 4 races just the same as the others as you need the remaining field to have the full season of races for themselves and their sponsors. The remaining riders will still be mixing it up with the top guys and also they would be working for point standings of 11th on back

I wonder what Andy Bowyer feels about bringing the chase into SX as he is experiencing it with Clint.

Anyway I'm just throwing stuff out there to think about. The promoters are going to be the ones that decide what's going to happen and when crowds and interest decrease as the season moves along I am sure they are thinking of change

Ryan Dungey, you've killed everybody with speed and consistency all year to build up an almost insurmountable points lead. Well screw u and your hard work, we are going to take it away cause we are bored and want to give the other guys another chance.

Seems legit to me

So in NASCAR the guys that win early leave the series? Why would you do that when a race win would pay a point towards the title not to mention huge bonus $$$ in your bank? Try not to argue just for the sake of arguing....at least try and come up with something that might actually happen. What you said has zero chance of happening.

The current system is fine.

I DO think more incentives need to be available for heats and semis to make racing better so racers dont settle for "im in the main"

Passing points, heat, semi, and LCQ win points.

Something to make each race worth it.

MX/SX is one of the last pure sports in the world. All the "tricking it up" in the world isn't helping NASCAR's declining attendance. Boxing was ruined by jack holes "tricking it up". I could give two shits about NHRA's points reset, same with NASCAR.

The season should qualify you for the playoffs, not advance you in them.

Repeating the repeatedly repeated suggestion.

Sports have playoffs and the regular season does matter.

Undefeated Kentucky is not the NCAA basketball champion based on points for the season. They lost in the final 4. Get it?
