BEST MOMENT- SE72 passing Bubba round the outside whilst still on the pegs 'trials style' at Matterly Basin 06 MXDN!
Brilliant! Just brilliant!
Yes, as America went on to win another MXDN first place trophy, that was brilliant Smile

that ride by everts was similar to RC at Zolder in 2003, so much better than the rest of the field, but still on a losing team,

Agreed. I was happy for Everts to go out that way, but there was no reason for James to try and beat him, Everts looked incredible that day, Stewart not so much. Ricky would of had a better chance to push his hardest and not crash, we all know when Bubba pushes his hardest there's a good chance of throwing it all away. It seemed to be a great day and event for everyone.

Got me thinking, what were the 10 best and worst moments in Motocross history?
Here's my list, what's yours???

Best Moments
1/ Danny Magoo Chandler winning all 4 motos of Trophee & Motocross des Nations 1982.
2/ Ricky Carmichael's undeated 24 moto season (twice)
3/ Travis Pastrana double backflip X Games.
4/ Anaheim 86 SX battle between RJ and David Bailey.
5/ Budds Creek MXDN Promoter Jonathon Beasley set the bar for event standards.
6/ Stefan Everts farewell double moto win at Matterley Basin, easily beating Bubba.
7/ Jean Michel Bayles clean sweep of SX, 250 and %00 Nationals in 1991 season.
8/ Team USA underdogs Omara, Hansen, Sun Laporte winning Lommel Trophee and Mx des nations a week later.
9/Marty Moates winning 1980 USGP Carlsbad as a privateer.
10/ Bob Hannah's race with Roger DeCoster Unadilla Trans AM 1978.

Worst moments
1/ David Bailey's injury in 87, how could smoothest rider get hurt?
2/ USA MXDN cancelation at Sonoba Indian reserve 2002.
3/Russians ganging up on Jaroslav Falta final 250 GP denying his title.
4/ Closing of Namur track, so much history.
5/ Mike Alessi's crash with Tedesco at Glen Helen then trying to stop his bike!
6/ Ake Jonnson's Maico spark plug blew out at final GP moto robbing him of world title.
7/ Josh Coppins Czech 2006 GP crash & broken shoulder when he was 100 points ahead in title race, lost out to Ramon.
8/ Cancelation of flooded Kenworthy's National, we never got to see Langston, Hughes battle play out.
9/ Doug Henry's Supermoto crash after such a career.
10/ Ernesto Fonseca crash

Ps Lists are not in any particular order of importance.
Stop sucking up with your US inspired list Roberto , Shit lists , just off the top of my head , what about Jobe over Malherbe...
Stop sucking up with your US inspired list Roberto ,

Shit lists , just off the top of my head ,

what about Jobe over Malherbe @ Hawkstone , most iconic GP moment ,

Carla @ Namur , we all like a beer , but that was classic.

GB Des Nations win in 94 , surely has to rank for a Brit ??

The only thing "shit" around here is your attitude.
Lets see your lists as you are such a smartarse?
Now , now , Bobby , no need for the insults , I know it’s a US based forum , but you don’t need to be up their backsides !!

As a Brit , I thought you may just have ben a bit more respectful to the history of the sport on our side of the pond !!

Regarding my top ten , well that would take a bit of thinking about , and your just not worth it , but that doesn't change the fact your lists are crap .

But , to give you some credit , I can agree with some points , but you have most “arse about tit”

Best - Magoo at the Trophee & Nations , that just has to be a up there , possibly the most exiting rider of that generation , puts it all together and blows everybody away , fantastic !
But then , surely the tragic way injury ended his career / life , that also has to be more sad than some of the other things you have in your worst list ??

Stefan Everts beating Bubba at the Nations , yes , great ride , but , fuck me Bob , how can that top him winning all GP classes in one day ? Personally , I don’t see that ever being done again , so lets give that the credit it deserves .

You have the US winning the Nations in 81 , but no mention of GB,s win in 94 , as a Brit , hang your head in shame Roberto ! Malins performance that day could be included on its own , as also could Jonny O,s 125 ride in the 86 event , yet no mention of either ? They were both career defining rides for me .

Also , you should remember the early days , when the BBC used to do regular televised meetings in the 60,s and the likes of Dave Bickers etc. , really put the sport on the map , especially in the UK .Would be difficult to pinpoint any one moment from those days , but it contributed to the start of a “ golden era “ in British MX .
I have already mentioned the Jobe double @ Hawkstone , yet you don’t seem to rate it over TP,s party tricks .

Worst - Baileys injury was bad , he was always a favourite of mine , but worse than Magoo,s , no way !
Closing of Namur , yup , very sad , as you say it had so much history , one such moment being the Carla beer stop . It was moments like that , that were truly memorable !

Anyway Bobby , keep smiling .

Thanks. Being from the USA I like to think RC or Stewart could have won that day if they had to, but the way Everts looked I just don't know. Unsure But really what a great way for him to go out, that has to put a smile on every fans face. Smile

Hmm, I think Everts was far superior than anyone that day, just my opinion though. Yes a brilliant way for SE to go out, only thing that could of made it better was Belgium to be on top of the box.

That is a fair opinion for sure. It would have been awesome to see RC, Everts and Bubba all going for it in a race they had to win.
Great careers for all 3, and they all represented their countries excellent. I don't know if the riders have the same desire for the MXDN as they used to. I hope the passion for that event is still there. I think it's a lot of pressure that some riders feel they don't need, if you try too hard and crash you let the team down, if you back it down to get a good finish you got owned. Now with social media the riders read and see that garbage. More fans should support the effort no matter what the finish is.

Yes very true. I hope RV gets picked for the des Nations this year if he is to retire at the end of the season. Would be cool to see if he can end his career with a MXdN win.
