Yep. We've literally got people in here who know absolutely nothing about Nico Izzi the person as apposed to the moto racer, saying that he is most likely addicted to heroin. Are you people fucking serious!! Why don't you wait for some facts before going to that level.
Umm, actually I made that comment before the thread was cleaned up so I should probably go back and just delete my comment because it doesn't make sense with what's left now. I understand what you're saying but that's not what I was referring to whatsoever

Haha I saw that as I read down the thread further. I jumped the gate!

Not saying he's addicted to heroin, opiates. If you watched his inside the outdoors episode he talks about getting addicted to pills after his foot injury. And as I've said before a lot of guys who get hooked on painkillers eventually switch to heroin once they can't get a prescription anymore. It's sad but is very common.

Very true post CR250Rider. Thank you for informing some of the squeaky clean and perfect people on here a little fact about addiction. For some it is not just a simple choice to not be an addict. It is such a easy and simple decision not to be an addict if you're not an addict. I know first hand and for anyone cutting down Izzi or any other moto racer who struggles with addiction can pound salt. It's not something to joke about just cause some are so perfect, not.............

I sure couldn't this past Saturday. Had a total squid day jumping from bike to bike for testing. Laughing But the pats on the back are helping my bruised ego and shoulder.

ive never been an Izzi fan...I guess because of all the gangster posing & gun crap he got into on social media and stuff, which admittedly is a stupid reason not to be a fan. Im also not a fan of what addiction does to steal the successes & futures away from very talented young men & women like him every day. Addiction freaking sucks, and I speak from 20+ years of past experience. I'm 16-years clean now...but it was hell & through the grace of God only that I'm still here. My heart bleeds for this kid, and others like him. I hope this messes him up so bad that it can truly be his personal "rock bottom". I hope with all my heart that he will get help, and get truly clean. It's the hardest thing ever...but he's still young, and has years to be all he wants to be.

Back to the original topic. I sure hope Nico gets help and turns it around. I lost a good friend to hard (prescription) drugs and alcohol.! Awesome guy that would give you the shirt off his back! Just got swept away in a powerful addiction.

I was bringing the hallucinogen subject because it has been tested and proven just one good trip under proper supervision can eliminate the cravings and withdrawal from the opiates that are bringing so many kids down today. Sorry got busy and wasn't able to get back on last night.

Maybe at some point in time the country will stop treating drug addiction as a criminal problem and start see it for what it really is, a medical problem. We as a society waste alot of money on intradiction that would be better spent on rehabilitation.

That's a good point, but at the same time, how do you not treat it as a criminal problem if it's a situation where it becomes illegal?

Well I'm talking about legalizing drugs or decriminalizing thier use. Half a century of the "war on drugs" has not worked. Possibly its time to explore other alternatives.

dcg141-I agree but much lilke war (there is no money in peace) there is also no money coming into prisons when people are given rehab options.

The larger question for me is how as a society can we justify independently owned for profit prisons? These for profit prisons need a steady influx of "customers" to keep the income stream going. Finally how civilized are we when we incarcerate the largest percentage of our population than any other country on the planet?

This having been said Dumbgeon please. I hate threads like this which are more like TMZ than anything related to SX or MX.

You want to make a bet this thread reappears when Izzi isn't on the line for SLC?

Well to get it back to the original post, I personally don't see how locking a guy like Izzi up is helping him, or anyone else. Helping him fight his demons without labeling him a criminal just seems like a better solution and possibly in the long run a cheaper one as well.

The success rate of rehab clinics is around 10%. That is why you hear so often so and so has been to rehab a half dozen times. It is a great business model as you are guaranteed repeat customers when you are so poor at your success rate.

I am for legalization of pot, but opiates I am not so sure. Probably the best place to keep a addict alive is somewhere that hopefully they will not have easy access to more opiates and unfortunately that is in prison.

Always amazed at the drug threads.....8,000 post condensed to a easy to read 3 pages

Two schedule mistakes in the same day leads to the following suggestion: Print out the respective schedules and keep them on a wall or in a binder. I do the wall method and every year it seems I am putting up schedules sooner......can't be a year since I did this the last time but sonofagun it always is! Like Mick Jagger sang........time waits for no one.

Have a good week.

Addiction is brutal. 1 is too many, and 1,000 is never enough.

Hope Nico finds the right help. It's definitely out there.

The thing people forget the most is that he has to want the help in the first place.

Until that happens, it really is a criminal problem (as in broken laws) and not a medical problem. It can maybe be considered a medical problem once he really wants help. Otherwise, it's a waste of resources.

Portugal is the only country to try decriminalizing all drugs. An interesting side effect is that once the stigma of criminality has been removed people seem more open to getting help.

I was one of the guys who defended this dude.

And now, I'm thinking, "ya know, there are guys who can't even get free handlebars, and this dude crawls out of a rehab center, gets handed a ride, and gets arrested again."

i'm hoping he get's shit figured out for his and his kids' sake. never like to see anyone fall from grace, especially a fellow moto bro. good luck Nico

Hope he does KICK-IT man but as some have said some people just can't do without once they start.
Remember the thread back in 2010? it went ten pages of horror story's and a lot of people signed up on Vital just to exsplain their ride with the evil Pills.

See if I can find it.
