Down in Georgia in 2000 with a buddy from Michigan, at Donny Banks track. Some guy showed up in a Chev Kodiak, completely done up, living in it, and 2 quads in it. Donny was telling us about him as he was rolling in, and we spoke with him a bit, before he started to ride. Apparently a National Pro, rides the circuit, spends all winter down south, to be ready for the series, a regular at the Blackwater 100, I think.

We're sitting there taking a break from riding, and the guy heads out to the main track, and starts hauling ASS. I can't recall how big the step up double was, that was cut out of the side of a hill, if memory serves, but it was big. Neither of us were doing it, and my homey is a far better jumper than I, so it was big enough. First lap, the kid launches this thing, clears it by a huge margin. The two of us are just speechless, then look at each other, laughing. The track that day was completely dried out, and hammered from a race, and rough as hell. We were riding fairly conservatively, not willing to risk road rash, from a get off on sun baked Georgia red clay. Again, didn't seem to bother this guy, just tearing it up. We were in Wayne and Garth mode that day.

At that time, I had no opinion either way on quads or their owners, since I'd never dealt with them much. This guy had my respect, because he was the real deal. I've since had the opportunity to share the track with quads, and it's never a good time, especially on sand. I don't hate quads, or their riders, but bikes and quads on the same track, at the same time, are just not a good mix. It's a shame people take the interwebs so serious, I didn't even realize we weren't supposed to dislike quads, until I got on Vital. Hey, shouldn't there be a Canadian Quad Pro in here, telling us how cool quads are?
Donny Banks hauled ass himself for quite awhile. He used raw strength and beat his quad into submission.

If it makes you feel better to try and belittle me then good for you bud. If you think I'm slow ,come on out to the track and I'll show you how slow I am. You can even ride your Quadzilla as long as you take the snowplow and mower deck off for the race.....

I don't have a Quadzilla, I have a quad with a chassis built by Doug Roll and a quad with a chassis built by Mike Walsh. No Quadzilla's, no snow plows, no mower decks.

But yes, it would be fun to spin some laps on an MX track with you.
Thanks Jeff Smile The funny thing is that in races I actually prefer a rough beat up hammered track with long moto's. I do better under those conditions than I do on pool table smooth. I grew up racing in SE Pa district 6 and if you couldn't ride ruts then you couldn't ride. That's all they had back home. Thats what I dislike most about quads, they take the ruts and bumps out of the track. What quad riders don't realize is that there is nothing better than locking into a deep rut and putting your heel just about on the front fender and railing a corner with your handlebar about dragging and feeling the g forces. It's surely the best thing next to railing turns in an f-15 fighter jet.... Smile

And to think we haven't even touched on trikes!

Got my powerwasher fired up for the first time this year the other day. Nothing needed cleaning all that bad, but I just had to do something. Lol.

I like to think of it this way; i can look at a guy and say yeah, hes good looking, but thats about it. same thing here, i can look at a quad and say yes that is a good looking QUAD, but its still a quad.

Example:

This

Equals

And This

Equals

I respect both for what they are, but we all know what we'd rather go home to.

Paid the price though, was sore as FUCK for days... you use a lot of different muscles on those things
