My last time on a dirt bike are over 20 years ago and now i want to try it again for myself and without the goal riding Races. I'am 38 now and when i was young i had some good races in the german nationals and the amateur class. With 16 i broke some bones after i crashed into the flat after a big jump. I only ridden one season after that and then i got other friends and interests.

Someone else also started riding again after over 20 years here?

All kidding aside, It's all about having fun. The new generation bikes make things much easier. Concentrate on technique and your speed will come back before you know it.

Do it! I gave it up for 8 years and kick myself all the time for taking so freakin long to get back into it.

I highly recommend it but be forewarned. Although your mind still knows what to do, it takes a while for your body to be up to the task. I just came back myself after 10 years off and I feel good for about 2 laps and then my right arm gets tired and starts losing control. It's going to take a while to build the strength back up in that arm to the point that I can go as fast as my mind wants yet maintain throttle control. I find it frustrating but challenging at the same time.

I rode/raced a little in 82 - 85 then got involved with car racing ... didn't get back on a mx bike till 99... what a dumb move being without a bike that long. Still involved with car stuff, but will always have a mx bike in the garage.

I'm in the same boat as jjavaman. Don't have a bike as of now but just picked up a nice used pair of Sidi Crossfires. Man I can't wait to get out there and take it easy. Then all of a sudden, open that throtle up!

My Bro has a 450 crf i rode two times after 20 years on a flat track. I also had bad Armpump and stiffness after that in the arms and legs. Train this Muskels can helpful but i think i'ts more a mental thing, you can't get loose enouth at this moment.

So from your riding days 20 years ago you might remember one of my best friends, Didi Lacher
pretty much dominated that era.

I think so. He is also a magazine test rider among other things that he does these days. Going to try and organize
a get together in the next few months. I think he might be coming out for the Vegas SX. In the early 80s he came out
with a few other Germans (Ludwig Reinbolt and Helmut) to live at my house for the summer and train here. We've
been good friends ever since.
