I just found out that I'm taking the red-eye to Atlanta tonight so I can try to keep the bosses happy. I didn't even complain (too loudly) as I'm hoping to sneak in some SX-related entertainment. Work permitting, I'll try to grab a ticket for myself and possibly for a co-worker or two. Any recommendations regarding tickets (at a glance it looks like there are plenty at the moment), Pit access, pre/post parties (I saw the DMXS post, is there a secret handshake or anything), dining/drinking hot-spots, etc?

Thanks in advance!

If your are taking Atlanta's great transit line MARTA to the Georgia Dome, then there is a stop right at the stadium on the east side by gate C and D, so I would try to get tickets around there for easy departure. If you are driving there are dozens of lots around the dome but cost money to park. Uber or Lyft is also a smart way to get there is you are staying relatively close to the stadium. Pit access in years past has been just bringing an empty monster can for entrance and the pits are located in the Georgia World Congress Center right next to the dome. The DMXS post party has a cover of $10 (? don't remember too well). but there are other clubs around the DMXS party and other areas like Buckhead, Edgewood, and Virginia Highlands that have good bars with out cover fees to go to. Hope this helps and hope you have fun at the race!

Thanks for the tips. As of now, looks like I'll be able to get away with the main show but maybe not the whole day. I'll be staying just north of the airport. Any bars in that area I should be checking out tonight? Any places to avoid?

Go to The Clermont Lounge.... It is an absolute hoot and a half!! Yes, it is technically considered a strip club, but that's not why you go. You go, because it's like nothing you've ever seen before. It's more like a 1920's speak-easy meets a 70's disco/funk club with a little bit of what I'd call "novelty" women skripping back behind the bar. To add to the bizarreness of it all, it will be filled with people of ALL walks of life.. Young, old, wealthy looking, grungy looking etc.

The Clermont Lounge is something every human being on earth should experience. My buddies and I go every year after the race, (and again, NOT for the skin show) and spend most of the drive home the next day laughing about memories from the night beore.. Couple years ago Carey Hart and his crew were there.

I agree with the Clermont Lounge. If you've never been, you have to go at least once.
