Posting for a friend we are trying to gather some info on the bike. It's obvious a team bike. No engine numbers or vin#. There is a lot of unique things on this bike oversized rear rotor, carbon fiber engine covers, hand made vented front number plate numbers. Just trying to figure out a little history. Thinking maybe Pedro Gonzalez as he was number 32 in 95 but rode for yamaha as well. Any help would be appriciated. The bike has some neat stuff for this time period. For some reason I can't post photos at the moment but will shortly.

You might try reaching out to Pedro Gonzalez on Facebook and see if he has any input.

What an awesome find!

That's a works SX 295mm front rotor. Looks to be KYB Semi-works forks and maybe Applied clamps? Cone section pipe. That bike was raced indoors and with the parts on it, this should have been some kind of support-level ride.

Since the team is not well known, I'd wager the parts are worth more than the bike .. I'd LOVE to get that front rotor.

How's your Team Plano build going?

Plano bike is going well. Just a few parts to finish it up. Hopefully it will make it to houston SX but it's going to be close.

That would be really cool. Parts of my family are from the Golden Triangle area, not as familiar with Dickinson but I sure have fond memories of visiting cousins in Beaumont and Orange when I was little. That is one beautiful part of Texas.

Lol dickinson is more on the west side of galveston. Not very beautiful. Lots of roads buildings, and traffic.

It's the same up in The Woodlands. I'm old enough to remember when it was just a two-lane highway to get to up here, and now Exxon is building their world headquarters two blocks from my office. Crazy

Post up some pics of your build when you get a chance!

I put some more on there about a week ago. I'm at a small stand still. I need Honda wheels, spokes, a chain and a front sprocket and it will be done. Just waiting in the right wheels and spokes to come about.

Cool. I recall that you Emailed me a few weeks back about any '02 up stuff I might have, if I come across anything that matches up to your remaining needs, I will be sure to let you know. You've got a really unique, all Texas project going!

295 is a huge front rotor on a dirt bike. You picked that right out Barkhard

It could be; depending on if the plan is to keep it indefinitely.

If you restore it without provenance, then if at a later date, it will be a challenge to re-sell, at least for what it could be potentially worth. I say this because, there are so many replicas running around, that claim to be "team bike" this or "practice bike" that, a restored bike without provenance is difficult to get what it might otherwise in an as-raced condition.

Alternatively, the bike parted would certainly get a lot of money. It really just depends on the owner's long-term plan which if my bike, would be predicated on establishing provenance.

Here's an example.

In central Texas a few years back, a guy was selling a '92 PC CR250 Team Peak that he claimed had been McGrath's first SX race bike. No documentation, it took him months to sell, and IIRC most of the folks I know who talked to the seller or who knew of the bike locally, told me they were sure it was a fake. No provenance.

Real race bikes with real race gear still on them are a rare breed of cat. I wouldn't rush to do anything until I established what I wanted out of the bike. And if I wanted to keep it, securing documentation would be the priority.

I see those two items as interlocking-- If you don't want to do one or can't get the other, then you are going to get a lot of money parting it .. These Splitfire guys would eat their old gym socks to get the parts on that bike, if they haven't already been contacting you about this.
