Tire Pressure for snow?

Never ridden in the snow, but am going to try to do the first round of a local race this weekend in the snow. What PSI should I run front and rear? I have ultra heavy duty tubes, so what do you guys think?

See if your series will let you run screws. If so, I'd be figuring out how to install screws to some tires, otherwise you will be fighting traction all day.

Run a little lower PSI, but there isn't much you can really do if you can't run screws.

lower the better. I run about 5 in the rear and around 10 in the front. definatly would run screws or studs if you can get away with it. sheet metal screws work good but if you can get ice racing screws they work even better plus they last longer as there a different grade steel. however they are much more expensive

I run 11 PSI (0.8bar) pressure in my studded winter tires. Without studs or screws tires are pretty much useless on snowy frozen ground regardless of the tire pressure. Standard screws do not last long in tires. They are toasted in a few laps on frozen ground but on pure ice they might last bit longer.

I would use proper studded tires (Trelleborg/Mitas) or screw-in tire studs (Best Grip) for motocross track.

(11 psi is about 0.75 bar.) I like to run somewhere around 0.9, but that depends on the track alot.
Over here you can get Dunlop / Bridgestone / Metzler / Michelin / Mitas / Kenda as a studded tire.

Oops made a little mistake on the pressure number Smile I meant 0.8 bar of course. I just rounded the PSI number a bit.

We have many studded tire options here in Finland too. You can get almost any tire with studs, but not all of them are good in winter use.
