some pictures of the engine .. a disaster

This was the engine before disassembly ...

the engine had it ready long ago, I only lacked the piston to assemble and the side covers decided to paint in the last moment.

I disarmed, wash it and then I put it in the sandblasting cabinet.

And so looks with painted covers

I just need to install the clutch plates, but I'll do that once the motor is mounted on the frame.

I hope you like the result

Given that I'm running out of budget for restoration, I decided to ask for support.

I still had to make the mantencion to the suspension, so I approached Pedros Chile. They are the official representatives of Racetech, Ohlins, Marzzochi.
They agreed to support me and now I have a suspension with valving in excellent condition for the track.

Thanks to them save me so much money that I can use on other accessories that I need.

I've been very lucky and many people willing to collaborate with this work

This is their website if they want to visit

I have been reading in various forums and internet, information about of the original CR carb, the mikuni.
There is much talk that it is a carb very difficult to configure and somewhat unstable, so recommend the Keihin. Based on this and when riding the bike, it was impossible carburizing for me

So, some time ago, I decided to buy this carburetor Keihin PJ 38 mm from CR 250 1997.

When it checked, had neither the spring nor the needle, and as seen in the photos was pretty dirty.

Bought the repair kit and buy the original needle

Now, I ask this question
I am currently at 1200 ft above sea level... What settings should I use?
Which Power Jet, Jet Maint, etc.

I hope you please help me.

390 main jet? and what happen with 170, 172 or 175 main? I read on some topic, and are fairly common, but in 250cc, if you advise me a 390, is that my engine is 125cc?

Same with the pilot, l remember have read that using 45, 50, 52 but also in 250cc ..
I appreciate you clarify my question.
Thank you

He's giving specs for the Mikuni. I have the same bike and bought the 38mm Keihin PWK. It has a 180 main with a 48 slow which seems rich and I'm at sea level.

Leaner/lower. Start with a 180 main/50 pilot and see what it's doing from there. Humidity and temperature play a role too.

If it's hard to source the Jets I would start around 172 and 48. Would be close for 1200' above sea level.

Hi guys
Well, I'm new to this forum and I decided to join to share with the restoration of my bike here and in others forums

It all started when I saw the work he did MCfan4life with the bike of Jeremy McGrath and that motivated me to do the same. I take this instance to congratulate you.

I'm from Chile and give to know that my native language is not English, so I ask you understanding if sometimes I'm not expressing myself very clear. Sometimes I need help from the translator Laughing

In my country is not very common the theme of restoration, so here it is hard to learn techniques from others. That is why I would appreciate all the help you can give me

I hope you like it

Well done on taking on this challenge. I live in Barbados and finding reputable places or riders who share my passion and concerns are VERY RARE. Ive therefore decided to do as much of my work as possible and I only refer to the forums for advice (from the right people). Props for taking on the challenge and I look forward to seeing your restored bike!!

Wow .. Barbados has incredible beaches. I've never been, but it is known and I have some friends who have visited and I have been told...I would like to go someday.

If you make some work of this type, would be great if you share it.. I would love to see it

Do not look bad, but not it as I wanted. My intention was that the background was transparent. So I had problems with graphics store for this and other errors.

On the Internet there are many tutorials of powder coats, but I did not want to complicate and just send it to paint because I think the price is very affordable...18 dollars.

It is not the same yellow, it is a little more orange, even so it looks great.

I love what you're doing with this bike! I picked up an '04 a few years back that was pretty beat up, and for less than $1200, including an Eric Gore ported cylinder and fresh top end, I was able to make it come back to life. I still haven't ridden it yet, other than around some pasture land, but I'll take it to the track soon. Runs strong! :

For less than 1200? wow Shocked that cheap.. Your bike looks beautiful!!. I pass that amount long ago, I spent more than I had planned but I hope the end result is worth it. I read about Eric Gore and everyone says that their works are excellent. I hope someday to have the opportunity to send my cylinder

To adapt the front fender 2014, I decided to cut to fit in triple clamp.

It is not very delicate work, but fulfilled its function and is concealed

I bought this new button in China through ebay.
The connection is different, so I installed one compatible.
