A lot of people get Donnie Emler and Donnie Elmer confused.

Donnie Emler = FMF

Donnie Elmer = Texas motocrosser then later wrenched for a few Texas pro's.

I started racing about that same time in Houston. Lots of familiar names and old friends on those lists. Rio is still going strong and the layout is 80% the same as it was. The facilities have received huge upgrades with several metal buildings and a new pool.

Man, I had forgotten some of those guys. Rhoten and Sitton had some bad ass XR75's back in the day. Sitton's XR was incredible.

Another fast dude that was undersold was Robert Westerman-----dude absolutely flew.

Wedding-----Pit Stop Racing out of Marshall, Tejas-----I've said it before: He could kick some ass on the track, and he would tell you ALL about it in the pits! LOL.

Super fast mini bike rider from Tennessee. Rode some trick Noguchi Yamaha's. Made the jump to pro when he was about 16-17. Was a top 10-20 rider at the AMA 125 nationals in '76-77. Never heard about him after that.

Heard he got messed up for several years, but has straighten things out the last couple of years.

Hope Derek is doing well. I spent a week at his house in '76 between races in Texarkana and Shreveport (man, what a shithole Shreveport was, but cool track down by the port). James Wedding rolled one of my YZ80's onto the lift of their big truck, took out a 10mm wrench and removed my seat, handed it to my Dad and said----"he won't need this during practice this week, and he will be faster when you see him next week." I never was that fast, but riding a whole week with no seat damn sure taught me to stand up!

Brian Ward was very fast, out of the Orlando area. Along with Westerman, he was one of Florida's journeyman racers.
