Look into hydro dipping. Do stuff like ignition covers, motor mount, anything that u want to have that "factorty" look.
I just had my swingarm powdercoated, looks great!

How tough is the hydrodip? Would it hold up on an ignition cover?

So should I stick to powder coating the engine covers ??

cola22, I don't know about the covers, in my expierence anything on the clutch cover or ignition cover will wear, even powdercoat, so I wouldn't do either. for the clutch cover I like the hinson covers cause they never show any wear. the boyesen covers look grear new but look horrible after about a month of riding.

i do powdercoating, it will not hold up very well in dirt, ive done a few supermoto clutch covers and they hold up alright, but they can look really cool! this honda one was for my sm, and held up good. but the ones ive used in mx leave you less then pleased after the first ride, as will powdercoating rims. hubs last but rims dont. I would anodize if you can find a shop to do it. people who powdercoat should get into anodizing its even easier.

That turned out really well man, but again how did it hold up to the wear and tear of racing. I was thinking about getting a matte finish to help preserve its life alitle.

i used that one on a supermoto and it held up great, the matte or satin black(that one is satin) is one of the strongest powders available, but ive done 3 or 4 for mx and probably got 5 practicedays/races before it started to wear through. also depends on how thick it gets laid on and the quality of powder. as you can see in the pic below the honda it has a little bit of waves/imperfections from me laying it on extra thick to last, so make sure you tell your guy to go thicker because looking absolutely perfect as most jobs should be, the minor flaws for longevity helps. id just do non contact parts, motor mounts, valve covers, hubs ect, and buy a nice hinson cover or something
