Can you give me some input on a good selection for a chest protector that allows for a neck brace? I searched post but many were dated a few years back. When I scan video I don't see riders using them??? or maybe they wear under jersey? I ride moto/ SX style tracks. I'm just starting back after a long break from riding so bare with my post until I get back to speed.

I ride with a leatt and a thor sentinel protector. Some may say its not ideal, but i find it comfortable and stable with my build 6-0 and 165lb. Leatt also makes a protector that is to work with their brave. I have a buddy that uses the atlas brace with the tld speed equipment under jersey protector and he seems to dig that set up.

Yep, I've used mine with Leatt and Atlas braces, works great. Not sure how it would work under-jersey, though. I just got a TDL Shock Doctor under-jersey protector for Christmas. Haven't ridden with it yet, but I did check it out with my brace. Integrates awesome with no issues.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback. I do want the cup over the shoulder as I seem to use my shoulders for ejection tuck and roll situations on land and water. DOCJD, is the TLD the 5955 that can be fitted in 50+ ways? It looks to offer the most versatility from the hundreds of model options.

leatt fusion 3.0 with integrated neck brace looks nice, I may switch from my old leatt fly stingray combo.

Ok, with a 116 views to this thread does that mean only 5 wear chest protectors? Let's hear it, whether you wear or not.

I wear the Leatt Pro Chest Protector with my Leatt neck brace. But you said you like stronger shoulder cups so I recommend you take a look at the Leatt 5.5 Body Protector.

Check around. Can probably find it less than this. http://www.btosports.com/p/leatt-5-5-body-protector

I like the look of the rib protectors.

KFW, mine is the 5900, it's a streamlined version of the 5955. Basically the same but without the shoulder cups and the upper sternum guard (which needs to be removed anyway for neck brace).

Thanks to all for the inputs! It was very helpful!!

To summarize, there's multiple different options, no right or wrong but what you prefer for protection coverage, safety, cooling and comfort. While the Leatt Boast safety endorsements it may/may not mean the others don't pass the same testing....possibly that they may have not paid for the testing and endorsements.

One chest protector that did stand out for me was the Troy Lee Design 8955 as it offers all the various features with the option to reconfigure to what specific options you prefer based on your own body and trial. I find this a great option if you're really not sure what level of protection and comfort you're ok with as you can configure it in 55 options.

At a cost of $199 for the TLD 8955 it would be nice if they de bundled the chest protector so you could purchase only the pieces you wanted as to not pay for something you may not need i.e. shoulder cups, side panels etc. One model, various options for different price points based on customer preference. That would drive pricing down as well. Now that would be a win / win for customer and company!

I have this one, TLD 7855HW. You can configure it how you want, leatt brace fits good and its got fantastic protection. Even my 9 year old races with one in the Expert BMX class. I wouldnt let him ride without it... and it gives him confidence to go for it....
