After a long moto, what's the only drink you reach for?

Why are you such a douche on your own site? Most people can tell what is said as "tongue n cheek" but you love to criticize.your own supporters. Hey, it's all your show so you can do whatever you please. It just seems you look to criticize posts to try and make others feel demoralized or stupid. Try and lighten up. Not all of us are in the pits and mingling with all the teams every week. We just want you to report to us what's going on.
Why? Because some of them deserve it.

For example Triple Five had a short vacation recently after playing devil's advocate in every thread he could. It got extremely tiresome. After a discussion about how he'd refrain from doing that in the future, he's back to the same exact thing.

Would Reed be a good guy to ask about this? Sure. During Press Day at A1 in the main press conference? That's not the first thing I'm looking for.

Based on the questions in thread and the emotion here lately, I would ask:

"To any of you riders, you have the collective ear of the Moto world and local press sitting before you and there has been a lot of emotion from the riders and people who buy what your selling the last 2 months, would you like to comment on what you would like to see this sport focus on or fix this year?"

This is a sample of what I would assume moto reporters would do, clean up what they read in the forums and ask it in a way that the rider can answer.

I would think it is best to remain professional, after all I'm sure the riders have been asked the tue questions a million times by everyone that talks to them whether it's friends, people they know, reporter's, editors, so on and so forth. It's 100% unprofessional to ask what drugs there on and for what conditions, if they have a condition and are not breaking any rules it's their personal business. They deserve privacy,at least a shred of it. Most of these guy's life has been in the public eye since they were kids, and some still are kid's. If they are not failing the stringent drug testing than why ask them at all. And I'm sure Mr Guyb doesn't feel like being the dickhead at the press conference either, asking questions that rider's won't answer anyway. Also, being looked down upon by his peers isn't good, it's bad for business and his credibility.

Answer? Yes.

I was trying to make an example of the idea that we don't need to quiz every rider about whether or not they have a TUE, and don't need to know what it's for.

Is there any other sport where the journalists ask the questions they think the athletes want to be asked as opposed to the questions the fans want to hear? I'm not saying there aren't boundaries; I just think the riders should be treated more like the POTUS in a press conference and less like a 17 year old girl on a first date.

I feel an eloquent and opinionated guy like Reed would take a TUE question like that and run with it.

EDIT: Autocorrect on ipad sucks!
You nailed it. Sometimes I think this is the only sport where the journalists were home schooled with the riders.

GuyB, your interviews are actually some of my favorites, but could use some harder hitting questions a dose of skepticism.

Would you like to see a combined championship of SX and MX like in the 80s?

Is the SX season too long?

What are your thoughts on the current numbering system?

How many heard "signatory" used so much before all this happened?

There is probably a catch to that kind of interview as it could possibly very well be the last interview the rider would give an interviewer.

I imagine Eddie isn't reading anymore but some questions about favorite tracks every season?

What rounds do you look forward to the most and least.

What is the most difficult part of the SX racing? Is it the travel? Adapting on race day? Diet? Workout regimen?

From a bike innovation stand point, which other team do the guys worry about as a whole and why?

Most of the questions us core guys want to ask, aren't really press conference questions. Maybe that's why this thread got derailed so easily? I don't know. I enjoy anytime Eddie chimes in since it's always been pretty opinionated and he has the facts to back up what he says. Well thought out responses. I was hoping there would be a little more respect shown in this thread but I guess I'm not too surprised.

Lots of us that follow cycling.

Stewart should have learned from Armstrong and had his TUE backdated.

Those would be good questions, and are more in depth and interesting than the usual, yet innocuous enough to be included.

I think this is the key. We all want detail, even though the press conference is really just a live press release designed to have softball questions for consumption by the masses, not the hardcore. Probably why I never bother to watch or even read much about it.

Just knowing the history of some the vital knuckleheads on here I expected some knucklehead questions, its partially why I posed the question as Vital in also a source of entertainment for me, but I also know that there are quite a few fans and industry types that either through rumor, personal observation or curiosity have some interesting views and thus good questions. This industry is very small and the power it holds over the MX magazines through advertisement dollars makes it very difficult to ask the hard questions.

On the other hand journalists have it really good in the moto industry when it comes to approaching riders. Most sports have set times for open questions and only certain journalists are allowed "exclusive" interviews.

I would like to know how the riders feel about the SX series in general. RV can't be the only one that's not feeling the show anymore. Of course like Guy B said, these questions are much better fit for one on one.

Just for my own curiosity: "Do you personally own more two-strokes or more four-strokes?"

All sarcasm aside, I'd like to hear about who the riders would LIKE to race against or finish on the podium with. Like at the beginning of that Red Bull straight rhythm event, Pastrana talked about how he hoped he got to race one-on-one against Bubba in the finals. Whether it's a past, present, or future rider, it'd be cool to hear who the riders enjoy riding/racing with, instead of who they don't like.

"If you could pick, who would you choose to finish second to?"
