Guys, Stewart hasn't won a title since 2009, he hasn't led the points in a few SX seasons, he has never dominated a series since 09, and he has never put together a real win streak in quite some time.

But after a year off he's gonna come out and totally smash everyone and start winning Championships again???

Really?? Damn, some of you are idiots......Pinch

Well, look, the fact is, the ruling sucks, and they need to give him time served. Period.

Glad to hear James is not retiring.
Not a fan of DC or the FIM.
F the FIM, we don't need them

Good on JS7 for the positive attitude.

When he tells all, I will be more interested in his explanation of why he didn't file for the TUE for 2014. For me, that is the crux of it all. Everyone can rightly argue against the severity of the punishment and James can explain what he has been through since being told of the failed test, but I really hope he tells us why he put himself in harms way in the first place. Don't they always say prevention is better than a cure?

Cheers
Steve

DC and Feld need to give a statement.that they will consider James time served and let him race both 2015 seasons on probation for 1 year. This needs to happen immediately!

Why should he do time served? Since it was discovered that he failed his test he has raced in every professional race over here except MEC. The nationals he didn't race were because he injured himself. If they barred him from racing the nationals last year while they were deciding his case then ya I would think that's reasonable. But that's not what's happened, in reality he's only serving an 8 month ban.

And that should be enough. Sentence is suspended and he's on probation for a year or so, and that''s it. Its like the AMA said, the WADA is not only punishing James, they are punishing the AMA. The WADA is using this situation to show its complete contempt and animosity towards the US and its riders and racing system. And the promoters (DC and Feld) are all for it.

But, when you get right down to it, its Feld and DC's program, and the riders are just participants who have no stake in it.

That should be enough? What you're saying is he shouldn't get any punishment basically. Who cares if his points are taken away from last series, he wasn't even a factor in it anyways. WTF does probation even mean? Like it or not he screwed up and actually got off pretty easy. 8 months is not that long of a ban. In the rulebook it states a first offense can be anywhere from no punishment to up to 2 years of ineligibilty, .

The dude should definitely be punished because, by the letter of the rule, he was in violation.

It seems harsh to me that he is ineligible for what amounts to an entire season of two series because of a paperwork mistake, however. Four series actually, if you count backward and remember that his finishes and points awarded are nullified from 2014.

A better penalty would have been to make him ineligible for the entire Supercross season, since that is the series he was in when caught without the TUE, then allow him to race the outdoors.

I see what you did there... Wink I'm not so sure that all of the drama, Bubbles World, and now this is better for the sport at all. You can go with the theory that any publicity is good publicity, but I'm not buying it. Reading that a top rider in a series tested positive for amphetimine only leaves one impression in the non-moto mind... that is not what this sport needs.

I'd say half the moto minds don't even care one way or another, and non-moto minds.... are not even aware and or care one way or another. This is not stick and ball or NASCAR.....if it was such a big deal like this board seems to make it, it would be in mainstream news, I have not heard nothing.......this sport is busch league, this situation is just another example.
Which is fine by me......I'm more worried about the cost to rideSmile

I have friends in the motorsports industry that have heard about it, so the word is out there...and I agree with you that at times the sport looks bushleague. But I do believe that there are great ambassadors of the sport right now, and this unfortunately overshadows them, because this is what everyone is talking about. I just think it's a shame on so many levels.
