So the FIM are the only governing body that outsiders see as corrupt?

COME ON FOLKS

And I think its less in defense of, but more of let's use a bit of common sense regarding their involvement.

That's what he said, and at the CAS WADA has much more leverage than James Stewart has. I honestly cannot see any situation where JS7 races SX this year. He might get to race the outdoors if he's lucky, but he won't be able to race before then. People don't seem to understand that this is not the type of thing that can just be reversed with a petition or a protest. It's going to the CAS and this is a serious issue, what ever their verdict is, it's final.

When this case goes to CAS it`s not gonna be WADA against Stewart. It`s Stewart appealing FIM decision. For fucks sake, people! It might even be both (not likely) Stewart and WADA appealing FIM decision for being too harsh. WADA did issue him TUE.

Just trying to explain the role of the FIM to people who clearly think the sole purpose of the FIM is to run the World Motocross Championship.

Okay so it's Stewart vs the FIM. But the FIM are acting on a WADA decision which I would imagine the CAS would be in favour of

You're right in as much as there are always lots of issues that we hold the FIM and Youthstream accountable for.

However on this occasion none of us yet have any idea of the full facts that the FIM saw when coming to their decision. Until we do (if ever) its ridiculous to just jump on this anti FIM/WADA bandwagon. A lot of the JS fans on here are assuming the whole world (or europe as its also known) wants to ruin SX and JS as part of some big evil political plot.

This is ridiculous and that's probably what we're trying to defend the FIM from.

Spoke to a guy yesterday who thought Venezuela and Qatar were in Europe. That's what we're up against. But you're right, as I said before, the FIM had just as much interest in preserving the respectability of the SX series as they do the GP's. It is after all their championship

the james stewart fiasco is just highlighting how dumb some of you really are- the fact that weege had to dumb down his statement says it all really.

As he says- wada are 'gnarly'

this isn't an isolated incident to pick on poor American rider james stewart, no euro conspiracy- it's just what wada do. Someone gets caught cheating and they punish them accordingly

Not directly. But you can bet your arse if the FIM gave out a soft penalty WADA would have them in the CAS faster than you can say "let off the hook".

I've said it before, and I'll say it again here:

I reckon there's a good chance that the base suspension started off at two years, then they worked their way down to 16 months based on the mitigating factors - TUE recently approved, genuine medical reason etc.

You guys are looking at this the wrong way - the FIM has sent a clear message that the penalty for not getting a TUE completed prior to a positive test is going to be at least a year suspension. If there is any evidence of not having a genuine requirement for a drug you better start thinking about a two year suspension.

Time to start adjusting your perspective.
This guy gets it.

It's not a euro sanctioning body, though. It's an international body that covers many world series. Too many people are trying to turn this into America...

With the only 1 race out of the States, which I personally would get rid of,
we do not need the FIM.

Yeah but you do. Otherwise you wouldn't have asked them to get involved in the first place. The SX series may not exist as it is now without the FIM

I didn't, some slump back did though. America invented SX, SX will always exist.

Yeah you did invent it. But it wouldn't be the world renowned series it is now without the FIM. It may have split up and divided all over the place. The FIM has ensured that the best SX riders all race in the same place at the same time

You seem to be talking JS7's ban personally. As usual the Brits are bringing the common sense to the party

I agree, if the commonly held belief on here that JS is guilty of nothing at all apart from a paperwork issue proves to be true.

However we know nothing yet of the facts that the FIM considered in making this verdict. Is wanting him to be innocent, and believing he's done nothing wrong really enough to start a revolution?

If the FIM publish the whole story as they've promised to and that changes the entire picture, will any JS fans bother to read it? OR have they already decide what happened without facts getting in the way?

Dude. You're gonna say others are taking it personally? Offering a rationalisation as to what's going on isn't taking it personally. Getting fanboy level excited and screaming incoherent nonsensical taunts of fuck the FIM etc is taking it personally...
