Putting a new top-end (piston.rings) on my son's CRF250. Pulled the cylinder, and to these untrained eyes, it looks pretty good. No marring, and the crosshatch looks consistent. I don't have a ball hone, and the closest shop is 50 minutes away. Does this cylinder look like it needs to be honed? If it does, I'll just break down and buy one. Take a look:

Yours looks like it is good. Make sure your ring gaps are positioned and sized right!
Honing is necessary if you want a good ring seal. But not necessary for the engine to run.
