Kailub Russell lived up to his promise by riding a smaller-bore KTM 150 XC two-stroke at the Powerline Park GNCC. He’ll do the same thing at the series finale in Indiana. article in Cycle News

Impossible.

Everyone knows you need a $10,000 four stroke to be competitive these days.

The KTM 150, with the correct suspension, is an amazing enduro bike. You never get tired on the thing.

KTM has let so many champs run 2-strokes after wrapping up a title, now I wanna see them do it here for SX or MX!

Few years ago in the first turn of one of the combined 50/60 year classes at REM there were a couple of old 2strokes were one-two in the first turn in front of all these newer bikes.

And that is more important in the woods to the average enduro rider than all the horsepower in the world.

Wattsy also rode and won on every bike that KTM offered that year. 125, 200, 250, 300, 380 (all 2-strokes)

However, that was 2000 and Scott Summers was pretty much the only one to race a 4-stroke back then other than when Watts also rode the 400. 250 2-stroke was the weapon of choice for most everyone else. It really wasn't until around late 2008 that the XC1 class in GNCC saw everyone switching to a 4-stroke.

I struggle with arm pump during cardio.

Such a gnarly ride on the 150, like a boss for sure. I definitely think the lighter bike,wound tight is a good choice for gncc.

I talked to him after the race, he said it was fun for about half of it then it got pretty tough. KTM also had fears of running out of gas, causing an extra pit stop going into the last lap. Since noone is riding the 150 at that level (riding them that hard), they didn't know what kind of "mileage" they could expect coming into the weekend. I don't think it would have mattered, Strang was on a mission and was closing in the last couple of laps, great ride by him.

What'd he say about his brake? Was it not messed up a little bit the last lap? I could tell that's kinda how it was, fun for the first half and then really, really hard.

Didn't ask about any bike problems, but I did hear there was strong contact between Kailub and Strang on the last lap, once right before the white flag and again in the pro pit area. Josh wasn't very pumped about it, but both agreed it was a racing incident and Kailub was just trying to hold onto the lead.

He did mention on the podium too that it's hard to keep that pace without the extra power. He was really putting down a crazy fast pace the first couple of laps though, it was fun to watch.

Yea he and strang came together before white flag (racing incident) and then after that Kailubs brake pedal was bent in. I don't know if it still was working fine was just awkward to get to or what but yeah.

Strang rode awesome though, first lap he was back there with milner after his penalty (the aussie gods say will dominate soon) and he beat milner by 6 min..

put on a 200 cylinder and piston with the 150 crank and you get a 175. That would give him that bit of extra power.

I think it is a very cool gesture for him to outfit the 150, race it and donate the profits from the bike raffle to Rory Mead. Not something you see often
