Thank you Sir! A local guy made it - Jeremy Pincus - an absolute wizard! He drew it up on PC and then made it out of card for fit - he did the welds in the same direction as the photo I gave him and copied the HRC style mounts too. So chuffed with this man's work.
check his logo on the cupboard door - a piston and pipe in a commie star and it says power to the people - quite a laugh.
He charged me $850 which is at half his usual rate, he reckons at full rate he wont get any customers. Check him out of FB - Pincus Racing Development - there are some images of a Suzuki RG500 GP replica build - 4 x 125cc engines "strapped" together to make min 145hp!!!

Have you thought about polishing the frame guards to a shine like on MC's bike? This is something I'd like to investigate.

I only have a couple of minor things to do to the '95 (excluding buying your clamps), and it's done. FWIW, the Emig clamps, which cost the same, required (in my case) A LOT of extra work to get the alignment correct and the stem to fit up properly.

I'm stoked on the great work you've done... And bummed that I didn't wait on getting the Emig clamps for my '93! Talk with you later in the year. DJ and I are good buddies, have been for years, so it will be easy to keep in touch. (The '93 in my avatar used to be his bike, he and I have traded like 6 bikes.)

Again, kudos to the great job! Man, you ANZAC boys take the MC replica stuff to a whole new level over what we've been doing in the States!

Haha we aren't spoilt for choice here in South Africa - there's no OEM NOS stuff, no HRC stuff so its been connections and help from the States, France and Holland all the way!



What radiators are you using, they don't look oem? I've been thinking about the ASI ones, but am worried about fit.

Also the plastic radiator grills look mint on your bike,did you manage to find new ones? where did you get them?

Hey Jim, I had a guy up the road from me gut the old radiators and re-core them. They came out slightly wider so I use air hose to make grommets to secure the rad fins.
The fins are nearly 20yrs old!! I cleaned them and sat with a toothbrush and got into all the nooks and crannies, they are translucent so the dirt shows through from the other side so a good clean does wonders. I then soda blasted them and then soaked them in a good spray of silicone-free plastic detailer. Came out pretty well hey - and theyre full of dust in the images!!

Here is the mud flap (that was in the same condition roughly as the shrouds) next to the rad fins for before/after comparison. This is after the soda blasting. just be gentle on the plastics!

Anyone give me a run down of what parts are hard to get for the 95-96 250's? I'm thinking about buying one off craigslist and doing and MC replica. I'm not going to go all crazy with the exact parts probably just the graphics and clean the bike up a bit. I was looking at the 93-94 but I am worried about the parts even more. I'm not really worried about getting exact OEM parts either aftermarket is fine for me as long as its decent quality.

Those replica clamps look really good quality work same with the pipe.

They're copied from photos and we used OEM '96 clamps for dimensions. Thanks, they really turned out well!

Go for it! I dont think there such a huge lack of parts availability that you would get stuck with an incomplete bike.

So what's the best forks for a TC Showa conversion prior to the axle and brake carrier change in 2004? Any particular year of cr250 or crf I should steer clear of? On the hunt for some forks now.

My memory's not getting better with age but here is what I recall from the three T/C conversions I've be around ('89, '93, '95). You get lighter weight, improved front end rigidity and also I believe Showa started doing low-friction honing to the forks if you go with '04-'08 T/Cs... Swapping out the carrier from a pre '04 caliper is easy (it's the same caliper but just the hanger is different IIRC), so don't let that be a hindrance.

For my two projects, I tried to find the lowest hour forks-- which invariably were the newer ones. You can still find circular (i.e., not wave pattern) oversized front rotors on close-out from time to time on eBay for pre '04s, so IIRC on my '93 I have a set of '07 forks with a Titax 280mm front rotor and an '03 caliper.
