questions for kx250 experts.

Anyone know of a forum that has kx specific info? I'm lost!

I found it earlier! I went to race techs website as well and looked at part numbers and figured it out as 16mm. That kxriders site is a great source of info. Thanks so much for the help Stevea!

The newer 03 rear hub bearing is the same outside diameter as the 2000, but the inner hole is of course larger. I'm assuming that if I use an 03 axle tube in the 00 hub and 03 bearing I can then use an 03 axle and adjusters. The only thing I'm not sure of us the slots at the end of the 2000 swing arm having a wide enough slot for the bigger 03 axle to pass through. For now it's just me kicking ideas around. I'll have the rolling chassis finished next week and pics to show. I'm getting excited d once I can see the end of the tunnel now!

Yeah I want to use rear wheel bearings, inner hub axle tube, axle, and chain adjusters from an 03 on my 2000. I after I'm done restoring the bike to running condition in about three months, I'm putting it on a diet to drop 10-12 pounds from the bike. I've already got a list of replacement as aluminum bolts for every non-load bearing bolt, as well as titanium brake pins, titanium brake caliper holder bolt, aluminum sprockets and sprocket retaining nuts, other tidbits. I'm researching the lightest intermediate terrain tires as well. I did a similar thing to my 02 Kdx200 and dropped 13 pounds from it and it was VERY noticing. The great thing about aluminum bolts is that they're way cheaper than titanium and lighter. My current price list is about $280 for every bolt I'll need. Just doing it for fun.

A 6905 (25x42x9)rear bearing from a 2003-05 and a 6005(20x42x12) bearing from a 2000 model are both 42mm diameter. I noticed while looking it up that the 6905 Is 3mm thicker though so it won't work lol. I thought the were the same thickness as well. No matter. I'll keep the stock hub.

Considering that I've seen some of these guys spend thousands to save a pound or two then I figured $30 on ebay for a new axle and three new bearings wasn't bad. But like I said it's just way more work then I want to fool with.

I think the aluminum bolts will cut a surprising amount of weight. I'm sure I can find a quality tire that's a couple pound lighter. Strategic drilling of hole on some parts helps. On my 02 Kdx, I had to replace my old plastic and unexpectedly found that acerbis plastic was half a pound lighter for the whole set. Also, i installed upside down 43mm forks on the kdx and they were almost four pounds lighter. I don't expect a 14 pound savings like the kdx since that bike had a lot more crap I didn't need that I was able to remove. I'm anxious to see what the final weight will be!
