MXA's reporting J-law fired

10/9/2008 10:08am
He's just a bad roll model for up and coming teen racers who might think they can be out partying till who knows when and still race the next day. Who wants their kid to grow up just like J-Law? Not me that's for sure.

Agreed...

But for a guy that has not been racing he sure gets a lot of attention on the Forums...
Must be a sponsors worst NightDream... Uh... DayMare....uh, he gets a lot of press for them! Good or bad some companies just look at how many hits he gets...

Geeez I didn't know there were so many moral authorities on here. Let him be and let him race. Parents should be the one's teaching their kid right and wrong not JLaw, so what if they see him doing something you as a parent don't approve of, then teach or show your child why that is wrong. I for one like watching him race for me it adds excitement to the races.

Every generation of racers has a JLaw personlaity type it's just recently that the internet has allowed for tracking of his every move and given EVERYONE a way to voice their opinon of him publically.

JL is still a kid and someday when he grows up he will stop doing stupid stunts. As far as riding is concerned he still has a great future as motocross rider. He just needs to get his head out of the sand. No pun intended.

21 isn't exactly a kid any more. More like young adult. At 21 I doubt he will "grow out of it" on his own.

Emig, Phil Lawrence, Lechein that's as far back as I go.

But I remember a good article in either RacerX or Transworld that did an interview with Jeff Emig, Ryan Hughes, Phil Lawrence and Denny Stephenson where they talked about all the partying they did. Pretty much the same.

when you are 21, you are supposed to party..... get drunk, fight over chicks, maybe crash a car.... and then you learn from those mistakes and it helps to build character.

Not the point it wasn't public, so that's not true, they didn't do what J-Law did...show me examples of Factory Riders who blatantly week in and week out fucked up like this please. Lechien got in trouble two times, once at Honda (airpirt scenario) and I think a dui was leaked out at Kawi, that's it. Emig was messed up on his own time at the river and was busted with paraphenalia (sp?) and nothing more...

Come on I want actual Factory riders who got suspended from mx that kept fucking up over and over and didn't heed the warnings they received.

Or you can have a preexisting notion of right from worng and avoid such activities.

Lawrence was on his own time as well, he wasn't on his motorcycle. So Emig as an example fits.

not everyone in this world has people around them, teaching them right from wrong in every situation.... when you are a young adult, you experiment, push it, mess up, and learn..... takes some people more fuk ups then others.....

True Emig would be the closest but he didn't do it over and over again, he was chastised his first and only time he got in trouble, I personally think Kawi was trying to get out of his contract and this hit perfect timing...

Here's the difference and no one will deny it...

Pro MX racers have been party animals for years, decades even, but it was kept low key and out of the sight of the public.

Some of it was known, Billy Grossi's rolling a rental car and the moped's in pools stories, but almost all of it was not done in front of fans.

This is the difference, much of what Jason has done or been accused of has been in front of or involving fans, and I think everyone can agree that that is an uncrossable line.
The age of the internet does not help either and anyone in the public eye should be aware of it.

Party all you want, many of them do (to levels and shit that'd blow minds), but keep it low key and out of sight, and no one will give a shit.

Truth is Yamaha and J-Law have parted ways. He will still be riding under the "Troy Racing" tent on another brand of bike come A1. Possibly a Honda or Zuk. Troy Racing's dealership sells Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki motorcycles so it's sure to be one of the other 2.

Sondy there was no internet when the other generations were around, Bushwood is the oldest and started in 1997 after hanna, lechin, MC, Emig, Hughes and the rest had calmed down so what I was referring to is that there was no way for people to publically display info about racers and their "wild times" because it was always word of mouth and NEVER put in a newspaper. People's lives are so acessable now i'll bet there is someone on here that can tell us what JLaw had for dinner last night. Did you ever read the article on Lechin in one of the old racerx issues? That dude was just as bad if not worse. I do recall some of the highlites from that article, trust me he was just as bad.

So the star racing semi becomes YOT... and the YOT semi becomes J-Law racing... interesting. I wonder if Honda or Suzuki will give him factory suspension for his ride? If not Im guessing he will move to the 450 class where non-factory equipment is not AS important...

I am aware of what he did, my point being is that he didn't do it in public, or at the races, ronnie was very private...partied at his home or partied with people "outside" of the industry. MC also and Emig. They weren't doing it at the track, and in most cases the night before a race. I guess just different priorites. Plus there were off season partiers - October-November...

Here's a great story .

Graham Noyce and Brad Lackey back in the day came to my home town for who knows why , although I used to live on an island that is an offshore tax haven so maybe they came to see thier accountants- anyway they got loaded then Noyce decides they should do some rally car driving in the rental .

He's tearing around till he hits the curb and gets a flat , that doesn't stop him though and he keeps tearing along minus a tire with sparks flying off the rim until the cops finally caught him .

They both got charged with reckless something or other. My buddies Dad was the judge.Yeah I know it's nothing like J-Law but I thought about it while reading this thread.
