Hello
Im thinking of moving to australia for maybe a year or so. And of course i want to ride while being there. I have zero experience of australia and even less about australien mx culture. So I basing where i live on where the best riding is. Where is it? Where do you find most mx tracks in aus? Australia is moslty desert so can you just go out and ride in the desert and just ride also?

My plan is to buy a cheap bike like a cr250 or something and ride it and then sell it when i go home. So just basiclly do what I do at home but in australia. I've heard it's easy to get jobs etc.

I'm wondering the exact same thing. I'm going down under in november and planning to stay for a year.
But it seems this certain part of the forum is not that crowded.

Hey guys,
he best riding is definatly east coast. In QLD they have some good tracks on the gold coast region (near brisbane) especially the new QMP (queensland moto park). NSW has plenty offer too depending o the area you choose, although generally the best spots arnt near the bigger cities

thanks for the answers guys. Yep I think i'll go to QLD in the brisbane region. I founds most tracks there on google etc. How close are the tracks to each other? Im thinking it would be easier to find work in a bigger city. Also i've heard good things about Sydney (non moto related) How is the riding around there?

And yeah east coast is were i will go

i live on the gold coast, and heres a list of all the places i can think of the top of my head within a 3-4 hour drive (since the two mx clubs on the coast have been shut down) i can think of off the top of my head.

mx clubs:
-Fort lytton mx. which is at the port of brisbane.
- Tivoli mx club
-Coolum mx club
-Warwick mx club, my personal favourite but just to far to drive out there every weekend Sad
- Stanmore mx club (which is now a junoirs only club so 18 and under, and 250f and under)
- Theres a track at connondale but i dont know much about it only ridden there once.

now mx parks:
-Queensland moto park, two motocross tracks, one supercross track, plenty of trails and one natural terrain track which is rarely opened.
- Emu Creek, heaps of trails, about three motocross tracks but the main one is the only one they usually prep. but its a massive track and heaps of fun.
-Motocross Mtn - plenty of trails, couple of mx tracks, with a main mx track that is heaps of fun aswell.
-Manar Park, 4 or 5 mx tracks all in good condition with decent jumps, one flat track, a mud pit haha, kids track, plenty of trails, massive flowing creek, but when its dry its the dustiest of them all, its got like a thick bulldust so not a good idea making the trip when its dry ( about 5 or 6 hour drive from the coast, but by far the best when theres been a bit of rain)

im sure theres more i've forgotten but yeah if this helps Smile . always friendly people willing to help with any questions on the gold coast. Smile

For a good mix of lifestyle and places to ride brisbane is a great option. South australia coast has some great sandhill riding but the winters are too cold for me!

My brother-in-law suggests Brisbane too, great for your setup. Hope this helps and good luck.

CR250's aren't cheap over here... not for a good one anyway. Up in north QLD like Rockhampton upto Townsville theres a lot of tracks but events aren't held all that often during the competition season as most clubs rely heavily on club members and volunteers most of whom are away racing the state and national season every other weekend. Club days and trail ride events are on almost every weekend now the CQ state titles are finished with. Motocross tracks up here aren't huge like they are down south or over seas either.

checked out all these they look really cool! will see if I can maybe make a trip to the gold coast.

So I finally have enough money to make the trip now. I've managed to get a job similar to what I do at home in sydney so thats were im going. I arrive 18th februari in sydney but it will probably take a couple of weeks or so before i get setup with a bike and a van and stuff. But when I have all the stuff it would be cool to meet up with some sydney people and do some riding. Also anybody got any tips for tracks, trails or just any kind of riding around the sydney area?

I live in NSW, but grew up in VIC. I reckon VIC has the best tracks.

They have a place called Ride Park (http://www.ridepark.com.au/). I went there over the break. Best track I've ever ridden. Track well groomed, loamy dirt and jumps were big. The have a 100 foot table top there.
