Hi guys,

I just got for free a Rad Valve for my 07 250 YZ.
The reed cage and boot are in great condition but the edges of the carbon reeds are a little bit cracked and I do not want to install it without new reeds.

Currently, the Rad Valve is equipped with these reeds which look to be the Pro Series reeds :

Is there other options of reeds for the replacement on the Rad Valve ?
Should I buy the same or change for other series from Boyesen ?

Thanks for your advises !

For your Rad Valve, get Rad Valve specific reeds. It's unlikely reeds meant for a stock cage would even fit the Rad Valve.

Yeah the Rad Valves take specific reeds, the stock replacement Pro Series reeds won't work. You need Boyesen part # PSR-034.

Those indeed look like the Pro Series.

Lamy gave the correct Boyesen part # for the replacement reeds - they have fiberglass top and bottom petals with a CF petal sandwiched in between.

They should provide better lifespan than the solid CF petals on the Pro Series.

Thanks guys for your quick reply and help, I am gonna stick with the specific reeds.

Last question : should I re-jet my scooter after installing the rad valve ?
I read on Thumpertalk you must lean the bike a little bit after it.

Thanks,

Have a great day.

Any update with your order mxracer966 ?

Since only my carbon fiber seems to be damaged, I was considering the idea of replacing this reed by one made from carbon sheet as below :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CARBON-FIBRE-REED-VALVE-SHEET-10cm-x-11cm-0-35m…

just need to check the thickness of Boyesen reeds when I am back home.
