Sorta like the TV ratings when Tiger is out.....its true, but some will not agree.

Gotta agree here... I like watching golf to see Tiger play. When he isn't there, I'm not watching.

Bingo! Everyone wants to the see The Best player. No matter the sport.
Look, contrary to popular belief, I am a James fan too. And I used to watch golf to see Tiger play just like everyone else.

But Tiger isn't the best anymore and James, while probably the most talented to ever ride, isn't the best either.

My ideal situation would be a 100% RV and a 100% Stewart along with everyone else racing the nationals and no DNF's. Then, I would honestly be stoked for whoever won.

The entire sport will shut down the day he retires. Suicide rates will soar and the sun will burn out.

Hey Jeffy?, would you go see Led Zeppelin if Robert Plant or Jimmy Page were not there?...would that mean you wouldn't be a fan of Rock n' Roll?...How you gonna question my love for the sport..
that's kind of a bad analogy.
example,Woodstock is to a mx race with all the teams/racers vs one band without lead players is to an mx team without its lead racers.
your basically saying in your response,no reason to go if star performer of a popular team will not be present. love of sport is same as love of music. vs love of 1 band vs love of 1 team/racer.
throw me back in,i'm a sea cucumber.

MX/SX is not a team sport for one and there's usually more than one star player..For example, if James missed Anaheim1, I wouldn't go because he's not there, but doesn't mean I won't watch it on TV....

It's good to have a legend out front, its good to have more parity, and it keeps the sport that much more relevant. ESPN the magazine, sports illustrated.. these people have had their eye on James for years, and he has a ton of casual fans that follow the sport more if he's winning. Hes a good personality and an entrepreneur who will keep giving back to the sport even after he retires.

I"ve never missed a race that I had a chance to attend because James Stewart...or any of my previous "favorites" weren't riding for whatever reason. I love motocross, and will probably go to my grave loving the sport more than any other...which very few people can fully understand. But, Stewart is the guy that I root for over the others. He's exciting to watch, and I'm consistantly amazed by what he can do on a bike when he's "on". And, nobody short of Magoo could crash as hard as he does and still get up and live to tell the tale! He's the most polarizing rider in pro racing, and because of that you have fanboy lovers (blech!) at one end of the spectrum...and haters (blech!) at the other end...and a lot of people who love the sport like I do in the middle somewhere.

It's good seeing Stewart ride smooth and consistent. Great back to back moto wins.
