Came across these. Radical Ron beat Johnny this day on the Cagiva

After I saw that race I talked Ron into some lessons. Great time

Very cool.

Somewhere on youtube there is some grainy footage of Ron on the Cagiva running up in the front at the '84 Saddleback National.

There are a few Cagiva guys out there. I've got 2. Big Al's got an amazing project going on right now.

Sure wish I could find one of those Ron Turner replica pipes for mine...

Ron spent 3 days with me on his practice track/mountain side. Gave me pointers and in general had a blast

Damn I would pay if I could find a restored 86 125. Anyone have one that they would actually sell?

Ah. The way I read it, you were the teacher, not the student (certainly not impossible though).

In the Cagiva world I have an 86 wmx125 restoration almost finished, an 88 wmx125 I haven't started and a 83 wmx200 ill probably start next, I've gathered lost everything so it should be a quick project. I'm currently cagiva poor.

Those first few pictures look like Indian Dunes, they are not Saddleback.

You are right. When I came across the pictures yesterday I could'n't remember and 'saddleback is what came to mind. It was Indian Dunes. Donnie Hansen was there that day too as a spectator.

International track at the Dunes. They used to rent bikes if you wanted to give dirt bike riding a try.

Can you imagine them doing that now, with all the lawyers and liability and insurance nonsense? Man, those were the days. Great story and photos!

Ron Turner was a bad ass.

Off the bike he looked like he should be an accountant.

But he was the Weston Peick of the 80's, took no shit and rode his ass off no matter who tried to beat him. And he rode a Cagiva? Dude just did not give a shit other than kicking ass.
