It was a pretty awesome moto and I wasn't watching the lap boards so when I saw the white flag come out I was on the wrong side of the quarry to get a shot right at the finish-line so I got a spot where could at least shoot it.

Fran Kuhn (editor of Inside Motocross) took my film back to California to be processed and then called me later that week to tell me about my killer finish-line photo they were using as the opening spread. I thought he was kidding at first, he couldn't mean the photo I had shot from half way across the track.

Its an amazing photo Paul. I always like photos like that which are a bit further back and actually give some type of scope of the track, and the amazing things these guys do. You hardly see any of that kind of stuff in the magazines anymore.

Dude you are so right i would definitely like to see more photogs take more pictures with the whole jump in the pic and everything.

This is certainly not the best all time MX picture. However, it is a great pic and I'm sure the outcome HURT!!!

This is a few years ago during the Gold Cup at Redick. Had and outside gate and going into the first turn, a kid inside just swept to the outside and took my front wheel out. Thats my yellow Yamaha in the bottom corner and me balled up getting run over like 5 times, what a great race huh?

That has got to be the best one on here.

It just shows how hard going that fast actually is.

I mean, thats not just some slouch in your every day C class next to him.

He was good enough to make a Pro National.

If he rode by your house you would think he was hauling.

But you put him up to james and it just shows how hard it is what those guys do.

I like this Photo, Bruhn took it at Anaheim and if you look in the background my kids (under his fork boot) and I (above the x in Fox Sports) are sitting in the press box, so even cooler for me.

I think this scrub picture of Byrne (I had assumed it was Stewie given the green) is perhaps my new favorite. Ridiculous! Both the scrub and the angle of the photo. Very cool.

Does anyone have a picture of Ricky Carmichael trying to save it?

I think it was glen helen last year or two years ago.


It was over the finish line im pretty sure.

His front wheel washed out on the face.

and he was completely off the top of the bike and still trying to grab onto the handlebar.


He didnt save it.

But it would be a great shot.

Does anyone remember back in the late 70's, early 80's how MXA and Dirt Bike used to have ads in the mag for different posters you could buy? There was one called "The Wall of Death", (I think...it's been few years) where someone is railing a turn on this 90 degree vertical bank. I think it might have been Magoo.

At any rate, I loved that pic when I was younger and any time a best pic thread pops up, I always think of that pic. If anyone has that shot, please post!
